Time to unseal videotapes of Murrah Federal Building -- (emphasis added)
The indianapolis Star Online (indystar.com) ^ | 2002/11/16 | James Patterson

Though time is running out on his chairmanship of the Government Reform Committee, Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., continues to push for copies of surveillance videotapes and still photos taken on the day of the Oklahoma City bombing.

A tip from a police officer who claimed to have seen tapes of the 1995 explosion turned out to be false. But Burton's committee, which has subpoenaed the Office of Naval Intelligence, still wants to know if videotape exists that could prove or disprove reports of a Middle Eastern-looking John Doe No. 2 getting out of the Ryder truck, which blew up minutes later, killing 168 people. The feds maintain that executed bomber Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols acted by themselves.

My limited correspondence with James Patterson suggested that he was not going to drop this subject. Good on him!

Just talked with Jayna Davis. She has talked with Burton's staff, and she feels that this recent attempt to divert them has embarassed them and made them more determined than ever to get the tapes.

Sort of like the old joke, "With all this horse manure around, there must be a pony in here somewhere!" (LOL!)

Im off to an all day archaeological conference; I may be able to plug the laptop in somewhere just to peek at the progress on this thread, but I probably won't be active on FR until this evening some time.

Happy FReepin!

But Burton's committee, which has subpoenaed the Office of Naval Intelligence...
... the Justice Department has videotapes under wraps, not the Office of Naval Intelligence.

With all the information that Burton has he (or his five staffers) has to have known that the ONI route was a dead end. Why are they doing "the Electric Slide"?

Let's do the time warp again!
Release the Videotapes!
Twice in recent months, Patterson has reported that Chairman Dan Burton's House Government Reform Committee investigators have uncovered the possible whereabouts of videotapes and photographs of the Murrah Federal Building from the day of the bombing. The Final Report of the Oklahoma Bombing Investigation Committee (OKBIC) noted the existence of such tapes, but the Justice Department has adamantly refused to release them, even in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.
Judge Denies FBI Motion for Summary Judgment Against David Hoffman
Hoffman filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the FBI in August 1998, alleging that the FBI has not complied with his request for the surveillance tapes surrounding the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 19, 1995. Hoffman believes these videotapes will prove who really carried out the deadliest bombing in the United States.

"With the World Trade Center (attack) and the (pending) war with Iraq and all of that, it tends to overshadow the Oklahoma City bombing. And there's always the risk that it will fall into the crack of history and be forgotten," Jones said. "I think the government has gone to enormous lengths to CONTROL the public's access to information and to RESIST PUBLIC DISCLOSURES and to minimize what is available."

To control and resist public disclosures is the prevailing governmental response of all totalitarian governments; and America is going down that disasterous road quickly. We may be the last generation to know freedom in America. While we yet have this vestage of freedom; I must say;
"The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet" Na. 1:3"
"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies." Na. 1; 7 & 8.
The controlled speech of political correctness has devastated our government run public school systems and universities and is leading to a neo nazi leftist hostile takeover of America by the Lunitic Left. I, however, was born a freeman and have received the "liberty of Christ", my Lord and saviour, and will continue to stand for all the liberties gauranteed by our founding fathers in the constitution and the bill of rights. To the left I say:"devil be damned, take your lies and go live in the communist countries your forefathers came from!

If the OKC bombing was another terrorist attack, I'd like to know.
I think the nation would like to know how many more times Americans were bombed in the last decade but the people never told.

Hundreds of eye witnesses say the FBI and CIA lied. They saw TWA 800 shot down. The TWA 800 Witness alliance ran an ad in the Washington Post because of their outrage.

, Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., continues to push for copies of surveillance videotapes and still photos taken on the day of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Isn't this amazing that a U.S. Congressman heading a 'Government Reform Committee' can be effectively stonewalled in his request for information collected by the government? This says a lot about the FBI and other entrenched bureaucracies. None of it good.

Police Officer Misled Investigators -OKC Bombing
New York Times ^ | 11/14/02 | THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Posted on 11/14/2002 2:27 AM CST by TexKat

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A House committee has halted an inquiry into allegations of a wider conspiracy in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and asked the Justice Department to investigate a policeman who allegedly provided false information to the panel.

--------------------------------------------------------

I certainly hope this new information is correct and the Associated Press got it wrong. Has the AP offered a retraction or clarification?

Has Burton issued a subponea to the Justice Department? If I read this correctly, he has not. Since Burton and everyone else knows the Justice Department maintains possession of the tapes, if he has not subponeaed the Justice Department, then this entire exercise was a con.

Thanks for the informative article. Great work as usual for Patterson. He is smart enough to figure this out if Burton's committee ends it's work without issuing a subponea to the Justice Department for the tapes, since clearly that's where the tapes are.

Thanks for the ping.

Something seems fishy here re Burton's committee. How hard was it to find out that the DOJ had possession of the surviellance tapes? Weren't they dealing with the DOJ all along? Isn't the FBI under/part of DOJ? This Office of Naval Intel thing seems almost a red herring to me.

Why is Burton losing his chairmanship? Is is a term limit thing? Does Burton not being chairman anymore, necessarily halt this investigation. Would the new chairman - whoever he/she is- continue this investigation?

I also worry that these tapes could be destroyed if the evidence would point to a government coverup that an Iraqi or other ME terrorists were involved. Why keep them (ala Nixon) if they would show that the government intentionally kept this info suppressed.

While Burton now says that J.W. Reser's claims were untrue...

Despite the alleged misdeeds of a former FReeper,...

So many questions: Is J.W. Reser a policeman and a former freeper? What was his screen name? Or are we talking about somebody else? And Honway's most of all--has Dan Burton supoenaed the DOJ or is he in process of doing same?

TXnMA, your opinion please on what's going on with this witness. Was he the one who pointed Burton to ONI and do you think his purpose was to divert the investigation until it is put in "safer" hands? Do you have any idea who will replace Burton or what committee(s) Burton will get on in the new year?

Thanks for the pings and especially for the information.

Another question for you and for James Patterson if he is a freeper too: I have read that Gannett (I think) has bought up the major Indianapolis paper. Is that The Indianapolis Star? If so, will James Patterson still be allowed to follow this story? It's so encouraging to read that, "the OKC Bombing/Middle Eastern Connection investigation is still ongoing in Congress!", but there are an awful of shut-downs ongoing also.

Yea, well the FBI @ CIA have lots of skeletons in the closet. There are distinct advantages to utilizing the Helegean Principal whereby a certain entity creates a certain problem to which a solution has already been derived.

Politically speaking in todays environment, OKC laid the ground work for the restriction of our freedoms in yestrdays environment of "It can't happen here" mentality. When the entire spector is viewed en masse, one can easily see how the Helegean Principal was used masterfully to it's fullest extent in this instance.

TWA 800, OKC, WTC, and to some extent, Waco are fine examples of Government agencies creating pre-determined public hysteria to achieve a particular end. Namely, our collective demise. The TRUTH is certainly NOT in the equasion...deciet and deception are the most utilized tools for the FBI @ CIA.

Don't forget to remember.
