Like countless others before me, who were born American but developed a love for British tradition, culture, and literature, I truly care about what happens not only in the US but in the UK as well. Over these last three years I traveled an average of four times a year to the UK for personal reasons. Each and every time I observed new inroads of decay and dutifully sounded the alarm to family and friends. England, the England that we know and love, is rapidly being destroyed from within by a combination of factors, some of which are planned, and others accidental. Let me say first and foremost that whatever formerly benign socialist engineering the UK might have had has turned virulent in the five years under Tony Blair and New Labour. F. A. Hayek, in his book, The Road To Serfdom, sounded the alarm as early as 1945 when he saw the direction England was headed. Hayek was at one point a socialist and he knew what was being planned. Instead of that jackboot on the face of humanity forever that Hayek theorized, Blair is making sure his incompetent socialist dictatorship has designer labels on the heels.
However, the effect is the same. Socialism is grinding down the populace on a daily basis. The destruction of the UK is so noticeable now because Blair and company actively despise the country they run. They are products of Oxford and Eton where anti-British sentiment by ivory tower professors is just as ingrained as the anti-Americanism of our college classes. Couple that anti-British self-righteousness with class snobbery and insatiable greed and youll get the current Prime Minister and his lawyer wife. The low-level Scottish thugs he surrounds himself with in his cabinet are actually wrecking historical revenge on England for past events hundreds of years old.

Your point is very well taken. And sadly, the ramifications of an unarmed people against tyranny usually has only one outcome.

People were giving a post-mortem on America when Clinton was in charge. As it turned out Clinton was a passing phase, a passing rage. When it came to a moment of crisis, the fundamental character of the nation hadn't changed.
Similarly, you can catch hints of an Old Britannia still around - just walking around Whitehall, in the way Rule Britannia or Land of Hope and Glory is sung, on Rememberance Sunday. What makes us what we are endures, and it is stronger than a Labour Government of a mere 5 years.

Actually, I'm a big proponent of the melting pot based on LEGAL immigration, not an influx of illegals and (so called) refugees. I am in favor of people wanting to be Americans, and not trying to recreate the 3rd world shi*hole they immigrated from. Big difference.
What appears to have happened to England is an influx of 2nd generation immigrants unlike the first bent on societal domination, and making the strong case for an Islamic based "Englandistan"... the author's point the EU is helping erase national identity helps make that case.

Pretty much. I'm such a mutt it's crazy. My heritage is pretty global. I'm just an American. Even if some Arab moves to America tomorrow, but believe in the things America is supposed to stand for, he's an American.

Not so! I suggest you read Sam Francis' most recent article on the fad of "bushmeat" in the Afro-centric quarters of London, along with the discovery of a 5-year-old boy's dismembered corpse floating in the Thames that had evidently been used in a human sacrifice/cannibalist ritual. The socialist multiculturalists refuse to seriously investigate or prosecute.

I hope you are correct, Ivan. It'll come right. Every time Britain has been written off we've always come back.
Napoleon dismissed England as a "nation of shopkeepers". Hitler dissed us and bombed London, thinking our will was broken that easily. People were snickering at Britain as being the "Sick Man of Europe" in the 1970's with the unions leaving the dead unburied.
But guess what, Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo, Hitler had his head handed back to him during the Battle of Britain and El Alamein, and we elected Margaret Thatcher. Hand wringing and writing obituaries is all well and good for a nation with a history of less resilence. It doesn't work in this case.

The socialist multiculturalists refuse to seriously investigate or prosecute. Scary for them to be so interested in political correctness, at the expense of justice, ain't it? However, I have no doubts they would prosecute conservative thought as a hate crime and off to the gulogs with those who dare dissent.

And what is an American except an amalgam of that which came before it? Irish, German, Dutch, British, Chinese, etc ... Do you claim to invent a new species? No, not a new species. But definitely a new national identity based not on shared ethnic background but on shared belief in the principles underlying our nation. Those principles are what are under siege by the left these days. We (all Americans) need to guard against the continued erosion and extinguishing of them, and turn back any and all attempts to do so.
To: Clarino
Ah. I recognize that last response as a fine example of the socialist response rule 2. It states Become incredulous and indignant. Avoid discussing key issues and instead focus on side issues which can be used show the topic as being critical of some otherwise sacrosanct group or theme. This is also known as the 'How dare you!' gambit.
LOL!

"exploitive and illegal occupation of Iraq"
You were doing ok for a while there Troll.

The multiculturalist agenda is only one aspect of the problem. The main point is this: If you have no right of self-defence, any other right (such as free speech, freedom of assembly) is essentially meaningless. Such rights exist only on paper and can be taken away or overruled at whim by those in government. As we saw with the arrests carried out by the Orwellian "Diversity Directorate" the other day, the UK is practically a totalitarian state now. As I stated in my previous post, if the article is accurate about how bad it is, the UK is finished as a legitimate democratic polity.

"Mutt"...
So is Tiger Woods. I don't hear most golf lovers complaining, because he's first and foremost American, right down to his Nikes.
