Getting what you pray for is sometimes even riskier than getting what you pay for, as every prudent man knows. But it's difficult to see how Nancy Pelosi will be anything but a godsend in answer to Republican prayer.
In tandem with Tom Daschle, she has marked out a rousing route to oblivion.

And yet I know another individual who'd donated $10,000 to the New Hampshire Democrat US Senate Campaign, where all I'd offered were prayers...which in that end seemed at least answered that far.
These people ( extreme Dems ) are on the road to ruin and I certainly hope that they keep right on with their crazed rhetoric.
How many Dems, do you suppose, will become GOPers, in the 108th Congress ?
Wouldn't surprise me to see Tanner, Deal, Peterson and a couple of others make the switch.
In '04, George W. Bush will be on the ballot, which could spell his -- Stenholm's -- defeat, unless he runs as a Republican. His district is trending heavily GOP, and no-one knows that better than Charlie.
I give up. I can't do it any longer, President Bush. I spent all this past week doing what you said, and have not gloated, at least in public. However, this is the last straw.
the last-gasp opposition to Mrs. Pelosi speaks volumes about where her colleagues expect her to take the Democrats in the House.
I can not for a minute believe that the Demodogs can not understand that the vast majority of Americans do not want to buy what they are selling. I speak with a couple of them here, and hear them saying that Pelosi is the man to lead them... or should i say be the party's new prom queen... kool aid drinkers... it must be spiked with something... something really really strong.
She insists that she won't let her liberal convictions obstruct her plans for the resurrection, but she further insists that the Democrats must sharply define their differences
How the heck do the Demodogs expect to do the two of these simultaneously with Pelosi? Mama Mia...
Well, as I've said earlier tonight... I've got plenty of popcorn and peanuts, and I'm settling in to watch the show. I've also purchased a new bottle of Scotch for celebrating those especially savory items bound to come. With the cautionary note that most good movies have some scary or unsavory parts, we can all settle back and enjoy this show together.
Mr President, I apologize again... but GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT... :-) ;-) :) :^) %-) ...
The physicist in me sees the choice of Pelosi as a refining of the fissionables, such that collisions between Donkey and Elephant will henceforth be more energetic and dramatic. We will no longer be left to wonder what the Democrats would propose in place of Bush Administration policy or Republican Congressional initiatives; they'll yank it out and thrust it into the country's face at every opportunity.
The political analyst in me sees a true contest of ideas occurring -- the kind where cash lands on the table and the audience holds its breath as the cards are exposed. If the GOP proposes policy A, and in its new majority status gets to implement it while Pelosi and her fellows are screaming about how bad it will be for the country, the results of policy A will determine (for those of us who can think, anyway) the future of both parties for the foreseeable future.
There's never been any percentage in being a "me too, but with nuances" candidate or party. When the contrasts are clear, there's drama in prospect, a chance to learn about the uses of political power and its limitations, and a chance to sway the minds of many. I might not like what Nancy Pelosi stands for -- I certainly don't -- but I'm eager to witness the results of the new alignment.
Freedom, Wealth, and Peace,
