I just don't understand why Mr. Thune and the GOP are so passive on the SD election results.
To: Elle Bee
On Election Night, Thune seemed strangely passive, and I remember asking myself "what's wrong with this guy?"
I think Fund has nailed it - Thune figures that in heavily Republican SD, he'll have his shot in the future, so it's not worth "sullying" himself in a recount catfight now. He probably wants to avoid looking like an Al Gore "Sore Loserman."
The difference is that in this case, there apparently was fraud, blatant fraud, that cost Thune the race. And Thune's responsibility goes beyond himself. It goes to his party, and above all to the majority of SD voters who probably supported him.

Have any vote stealing/fraud rat operatives ever been tried in court and sent to prison?

Think 2004. The reason for Thune's graciousness may be found in Ashcroft's stepping aside in 2000. This year, in reaction to what happened in Missouri cities in 2000 and thanks to the squeeky wheel that Sen. Bond became, 400 FBI agents monitored urban polls. The MO Sec of State expected thousands of illegal votes so they created a category called "provisional" by which someone who was not at his polling spot, unsure if he was regsitered, etc., could vote and then his registration would be researched later to see if his count could count. With 400 poll watchers, there were only 600 provisional votes statewide.
Expect Thune to run again, perhaps even against Daschle. Expect FBI agents to watch the polls. Expect the Republican organization to be on top of all absentee applications and counting. This isn't over yet.

Lets see. Nixon went with out the recount and won the White House four years later.
Al went with the recount and his chances of winning dog catcher are nill( that's zero for all you rebel MF's).

Republicans wouldn't stop Clinton;s ChiCom treason - you expect them to challenge a little thing like voter fraud?
To: Elle Bee
Well the FBI is OBLIGATED to investigate this voter fraud.
What happens when the FBI finds sufficient fraud to overturn the results?

If the evidence this strong--and I trust the Journal--then Thune is a fool, and should NOT run for office again.
To: Elle Bee
"Allow us to translate: Yes, Mr. Thune thinks the election was probably stolen, but he'll have a hard time proving it, won't win in the end anyway and along the way he'll be so beat up by Tom Daschle's political machine that he'd never be able to run for statewide office again. He's only 41 years old, so better to walk than fight. That may sound cynical, but what else are his supporters to make of that ripe phrase, 'though unethical'?" Me thinks Mr. Thune is getting ready (with Bush & HIS political machine) to unseat Mr. Dashole when his turn comes for running again!

The Democrats have a LONG LONG history of doing just this sort of thing. Right after the Civil War the Rats would take the Blacks down to the polling place hold a gun to their head and tell them to vote Rat.
It was the Rats that passed the laws to keep the blacks from voting, until they discovered that they could use the Blacks to get reelected.
I think Mr Thune did the right thing, with the country going more right and the Rats going more left, just wait and see. The Rats lost some MAJOR races this year, they are still unaware just how much the Clintons hurt there party.

The recount would have been handled by both Democrats and Republicans. The Florida recounts showed everyone that Democrats are willing to cheat, while Republicans aren't.
Therefore, Johnson would have gained votes in the recount. You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.

BIG CHIEF STUFFING BALLOTS
To: Elle Bee
**As Mr. New concedes, "this could all be a coincidence." But "this trifecta of late results, high turnout and unusually strong support for the Democratic nominee should, if nothing else, arouse suspicion."**
Coincidence this is NOT!
I believe that John Thune is currently taking the high road to avoid all the mud-slinging that would arise out of challenging the fraudulent vote.
Why?
Because he will be back to challenge Daschle and he will WIN!
(Of course, all these voting irregularities will have been investigated by other individuals and then solved with the presence of poll watching and stricter voter identification.)
To: Elle Bee
What if Thune had his share of fraud. This might be a mexican stand off.
To: Elle Bee
If Thune won't fight, he doesn't deserve the seat.
If the RNC won't fight, neither do we.
To: Elle Bee
After all the "every vote must be counted" rhetoric from the Dems in 2000, how could he be "beat up by Tom Daschle's political machine"?
That would be a huge mistake by the Dems. I'd demand a recount just to make them try to "beat" me up.
Something else must have Thune worried.

If he doesn't demand this election stand the scrutiny of the light of day then who wants to ever support him again?
