Thanks for contributing a column on this Thread every week. I learn something every week. For instance, it had not dawned on me that Nancy Pelosi would be in line for the Presidency if the Dems had taken over the House...Perish that thought and many others that you pointed out.

You are not forgotten
We came home about the same time, you stayed young & I grew old. Now I've got daughters & grandsons--- but part of me is still with you. Semper Fidelis, Dick (USMC)

Richard Oass -- High School friend

A tribute to WO1 Frank Murrietta: KIA, Quang Nam, South Vietnam.
The main rotor was shot off the aircraft by AAA fire from 1,500 feet AGL. It was the command and control ship at the time. All souls on board perished when the rotorless aircraft hit the ground and exploded. A big ball of fire from air observation by other members of C/227. All bodies were recovered and identified later that day.

from CW4 Bill Terry, July 1996

A tribute to WO1 Frank Murrietta
I was a crewchief and flew with Frank Murrietta quite often. He was a pilot in Charlie Company 227th Assault Helicopter Battalion of the 1st Cavalry Division. We miss you Frank.May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Arthur Abendschein -- comrade in arms

A tribute to WO1 David Morris: KIA, Phuoc Long, South Vietnam.
I was a classmate and room mate of Dave's in Army Warrant Officer Flight School. We were both from Mass. at that time. Dave, his sister, my wife and I attended the graduation ball at the Officer's Club at Hunter Army Airfield. I saw Dave in Mass. just before he went over to Viet Nam. He was a good friend. I think of him to this day some thirty years later.

Jim McKinley -- Friend and Flight School classmate

Good morning to you all. Very charming, those little owls.

JH2, regards and thanks for another look at the horizon through your eyes. You always pick up some landmark or movement that my poor vision misses.

Pelosi as the new face of the Dems, and their choice of Boston for their Convention '04, both thrill and delight me. It will be a farcical parade rivaling the memorial for Wellstone. The three ring circus will showcase the Kennedy syndicate, various has beens like Dukakis and Hartpence, and we'll be so sick of Heinzkerry the bottom will fall out of tomato futures.

Everything the Dims are doing will push the remaining fence-sitters into the GOP corner.

Dubya rocks. America rolls.

Another GREAT essay John. Sure wish I could compose my thoughts on current events as quickly as you do. You sure are one of "FR's Finest..."

Uhh Louie, a halo? And it's not even tilted or tarnished.

Welllll, just WHOOOO is cute? LOL What a flock of Wise & Fine FReepers :) Nice to have a chance to say hello to everybody and will be right back after dinner.

BTW, an interesting scandal erupting in WA State today! 160,000+ absentee ballots were sent out very late before the election here. First the elections officials said all ballots had been sent out, but three days later said they hadn't. Then they blamed it on MARYLAND saying that we sent our ballots to be printed there. Because of the sniper, Maryland had more absentee ballot requests and were behind in the printing process - and couldn't get around to ours.

Washington residents began asking why OUR ballot printing business was given to Maryland. Citizens asked why our voting rights were second to citizens in Maryland. So the Seattle PI investigated...

The WHOLE story is a LIE. Our ballots are NOT printed in Maryland. It had nothing to do with the sniper. WHY then this "official" LIE??? "Coincidentally these LATE ballots were going to conservative counties outside Seattle. Speculation is that the (Lib) officials were HOLDING UP the ballots until more favorable poll results showed in FAVOR of serveral big Referendums and Initiatives the LIBS wanted passed!!!!!!!

This is HUGE. Our state is controlled lock, stock, and barrel by demoRATS and heads better ROLL on this!!! Unbelieveable is it not?
