removed Vocations Director Fr. James Gould from his job. Loverde reportedly did so because Gould allegedly opposed allowing a man with a long history of homosexuality into the seminary.

Bingo! Gould is a very good man.

You forgot to ping steve0113 & me - we are in St. Mary parish, we know both Fr. Haley & Fr. Hamilton. I would take Fr. Haley's word over that of almost anyone, as I posted when this first broke a couple of months ago. Steve & I were saying this morning that maybe Bruskewitz would pick him up, like the quarterback you end up being sorry you traded away.

"Bishop Paul Loverde (Arlington Diocese of Virginia) removed Vocations Director Fr. James Gould from his job. Loverde reportedly did so because Gould allegedly opposed allowing a man with a long history of homosexuality into the seminary. Bp. Loverde has not denied this report. Loverde also supported a homosexual 'civil rights' bill in Connecticut in 1991. That law allows homosexuals to adopt children and act as foster parents. The law 'also permits the state to impose quotas for homosexuals on employers,' reported RCF. Loverde is a bishop in 'good standing.'"

And some Catholics here attack those of us in Arlington diocese who choose to avoid the diocese like the plague... Anyone want to send your young sons to be altar boys (or girls) in such a diocese?

No thank you. I will stick with the Traditional Mass and let these perverts and sodomites and pagans wallow in their filth.

Our loss is your gain. We miss Fr. Rooney, who was at our parish, St. Leo the Great for too short a time. :)

I'm sorry I didn't ping you. I knew someone had posted on this, and I am grateful to see you found this thread.

So we have our answer, and I thank you nina. Fr. Haley is a man of God, and Bp. Loverde is a typical American bishop....

Guess I should have read a little further.

Fr. Haley is an awesome priest - I believe he came late to the priesthood from an engineering field. His voice trembles with emotion during the consecration. I don't know a more reverent priest.

So many priests who refuse to go along with the filth that has invaded the Church are living lives in poverty and misery. Yet good Catholics continue to reach into their pockets and give at the Offertory. I would much rather send money to Haley -- or any other good priest who has fallen victim to the corruption in the Church -- to help him in these difficult times.

I can't believe he fired Father Gould!!!!! That is outrageous. I am so furious.

It was Bishop Keating who made that diocese great. NOT Bishop Loverde!

BANSHEE ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I don't have an address for him - when he left for his discernment, the announcement made was that he wanted no contact.

Fr. Hamilton put a letter in the bulletin that another parishioner characterized as "venomous" - it read as if Fr. Haley was leaving the priesthood. Steve & I couldn't believe that, having seen his reverence.

One rumor that circulated was that he had gone into a monastery, which still made us sad as he was an excellent homilist, but we consoled ourselves with the thought that he was working in God's nuclear power plant. When the truth came out (as much of it as has come out) we were horrified.

I'm sure he could use money - $2k a month is minuscule in Northern VA. I'm working on finding him & will let you know via freepmail if I do.

Nina, do you know how we can send money to support Fr. Haley? Do you have his address?

When did this cabal develop? It seemed that under Bishop Keating the diocese was very orthodox, shortly after his ad limina visit with Pope John Paul II,(I think within 24 hours of the meeting) he died in his hotel room of a heart attack.

I never heard anymore about his sudden death and wondered.Maybe there was an underground of some subversive priests that he had not known about and died of a broken heart? I beleve everything I have read about his vocations director demonstrates that his vocations director was holy, wholly orthodox and an excellent recruiter but even that does not preclude a dedicated enemy from getting his nose under the tent. Any thoughts?

What diocese is this? I'm sure we'd be happy to have someone devout like this.

Fr Haley was awesome in the short time he was at St Mary. I've never seen Mass celebrated in such a reverent manner as when Fr Haley was presiding. The consecration was sooo moving and poignant - it's impossible to decribe.
Pray for holy priests!

As an ex-Catholic, all I can say

Pardon me for my impoliteness, but nobody asked you, and it's really none of your business, any more than if you were a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a tax collector, or a heathen.

The fact that you were once a Catholic gives you no special cachet or competency to comment, and doesn't require us to pay one whit of extra attention to what you say.

Indeed. I can only repeat what I have heard from others, including this excellent priest, so I know little about the other aspects of this. I attend an SSPX chapel so as to assist at the Traditional Latin Mass.

Father Gould loves God and loves Christ's poor Church.

Do you think Bishop Loverde fired him because the other bishops wanted Gould punished for his coverage on EWTN of the last USCCB debacle in Dallas?

I would not want my child there either, but don't we have an obligation to speak out about this? (Gospel from about a month or so ago.)
