Ha. Although I love and admire Microsoft's success and was elated to see them beat the reaper, I'm not a fan of Citizen Bill Gates. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he sure does know how to run a company.

However, as a fellow non-billionaire WA State citizen his left-of-center public positions has lost him all respect he might have had from me. Dude, those tax hikes you've supported all these years are not just academec issues. For some of us, it actually impacts our lives.

Perhaps he thinks it is the bone he must toss the lefties to try to keep them at bay.

A lot of good it's done him. Larry Ellison is the biggest boor and (to my knowledge) doesn't pander to the left or coddle Klintoon & Co. What did Gates get for his trouble? An ocean full of grief. There is a hugh number of nose-ring-wearing types that are still gunning for him.

The way he turns his back on capitalism (or at least pretends not to know her) is shameful.

Maybe he suffers from the Mike Tyson syndrom: Too much money, fame and attention overwhelming sound judgement.
