Man Kills Kitten In Front Of 4-Year-Old

NEWARK, Ohio -- A Ohio man will spend 30 days in jail for killing a kitten in front of its 4-year-old owner and forcing the girl to help clean up the animal's blood.

Frederick Brumage II, 39, pleaded guilty Saturday to aggravated menacing and cruelty to animals in Licking County Municipal Court.

Brumage also must attend anger-management and mental-health counseling.

Brumage told investigators he was drunk when he visited a neighbor's home Wednesday and became upset when the kitten scratched him.

He burned the cat's paws on a stove burner, then slammed it on the floor with the girl present, according to court records.

He threatened to harm the girl if she told her mother, who was in the shower.

At the risk of bringing down the rath of PETA, I really don't care about the kitten. The issue is what he did to the little girl. If someone did that to my daughter I would beat the crap out of him.

It's NOT about PETA, it's about torturing an innocent being. The animal may NOT be sentient, but it can STILL FEEL PAIN. The kitten was just a baby - it didn't deserve to be treated like that. I hope someone beats some sense into bastard...

I'm as far from an animal rightist as they come but I'd deliver a butt whoopin' over the kitten.If that was my child or any child in my extended family He'd wish he went out as easily as the feline.

Whether you care about animals or not, we should all be concerned with people that would be this cruel to the little girl AND the kitten. This type of violence is often symptomatic of a psyco ready to physically hurt people.

I think the mother showed poor judgement, in choice of "friends", and in leaving a 4 year old alone in a "friends" company. If he was drunk, so much the worse for "mommy's" judgement. She didn't have to create an environment where this could happen. She is most likely lucky that much worse was not done to the little girl and herself.

Its not just about the kitten, the mindset of a person who would commit such an act of cruelty, both to the kitten and to the child is a serious problem. I dont think 30 days comes close to being an adequate punishment. It should be more like 6 months or 1 year minimum.

I completely agree with you. The poor, innocent kitten didn't deserve this torture and I really feel for the innocent child who witnessed this barbaric act.
After reading stories like this, I only pray that these barbarians get their due. Hopefully tenfold to the pain and suffering they caused.

Around here that stunt would have gotten him felony cruelty to animals.Compounded with the fact he terrorised a chld,he could have ended up getting much more time than he did in this case.He deserves the stove burner treatment himself.

If the S.O.B. had tortured and killed a kitten in front of an adult I would have no problem with prosecuting him for animial cruelty. In this case, what he did to the kitten pales in comparison to what he did to the little girl. The little girl is, by the way, a sentient being and I care about her a lot more than I care about any kitten.

He should have been prosecuted for child abuse and for threatening the life of the child. Hopefully, word will get out regarding the nature of his offense in whatever jail he gets sent to and he will spend his 30 days in jail getting daily beatings and worse.

I like to hunt, I love to eat red meat, I have no problem wearing leather shoes and belts, and I don't mind fishing either. So, this isn't coming from PETA. Animals deserve humane treatment - that doesn't mean they have the same rights we do. Also, how one treats animals speaks volumes about the individual in question. You should care about the kitten cause anybody that would do something that viscious to an innocent and defenseless little animal is one majorly sick b$st$rd. If he did that to my cat or my dog in front of my kid, we wouldn't have to worry about him doing it to anything else.

This is the kind of whack job who kills for the thrill and needs to be put away before he graduates from kittens to four year olds.
