This, of course, is if Cheney decides not to run. My guess is that the Administration is looking at alternatives just in case. Still would like to see Cheney run.

What's with all these V.P. rumors floating around? Rudy, Pataki, Mitt, Bill Frist? I thought the Prez said Cheney is his man for '04. Did I miss something? Has Cheney had another heart attack in the last 24 hours or something?

What part of Cheney is my running mate in 2004 do you not understand?
He will never pick Pataki who will not play well out here in the Heartland!
Are some of you trying to start problems on here today because I have never seen so many of these type posts as I have today!

I think Bush has made it pretty clear that Dick Cheney will be his running mate in 2004. Anything else is pure hype.

How do you say "nonsense" in Portuguese?

How does this get Jeb on the ballot for President in 2008? Pataki for President in 2008? I think not. Cheney will not run in 2008 so Jeb jumps in.

No way, don't forget who Pataki endorsed in 96, hint.. it wasn't Dole. I don't think Bush would choose someone who isn't on the team. I think, if Cheyney has anymore health issues that would cause him to decide not to run, Bush would probably choose Tom Ridge.

He said Cheney ...quite emphatically...
Id like to see Condi as VP in 2004 and as pres in 2008 against the Hildabeast if she runs waddles

I'm disappointed to see people being so testy with each other on this thread. You'd think it was the Dems who had the historic victory 72 hours ago. Let's leave the nasty intra-party bickering to them.
My own two cents says that W is, of course, a man of his word, and when he says Cheney will be his running mate, that is the end of the matter.
Of course if Cheney is unable to run, that's another thing. But even in such case, I agree with those who say the odds of W picking an ardent pro-choice running mate like Pataki = 0.
Even so, I'm not going to jump down the throat of those who have a different outlook.
