When the alarm went off this am and I heard NPR announce 'GOP takes Senate,' I refused to put on the Today show so I wouldn't see Russert's bloated puss. Driving to work, refused to listen to talk radio (I live in North Carolina and didn't want to hear about 'Liddy' that lying bitch. The people in NC are going to be pissed when what few manufacturing and textile jobs that remain leave the state and Dole doesn't do squat to stop Bush from giving them to Turkey and Pakistan in return for their support in the war on terra.) I was so depressed at work, even listening to Malloy didn't help. Won't watch Crossfire, just to avoid Tucker and Novak beaming. Won't have tv on O'Reilly because watching him gloat would be unbearable. And Hardball, won't ever watch that show again with Mathews and supreme whore Fineman. I wonder if cable news channels ratings will drop since Democrats are such a nonentity and don't make interesting opponents. There is always celebrity crime (Winona Ryder/Robert Blake). Thank God for this Forum.
Would you call that "talent"? ;o)
Thanks, I do indeed. My despicable brother-in-law is just about the hardest-core socialist DimRat imaginable, and my sister told me that yesterday's slaughter has him in a depression that has rendered him nearly comatose. I'm smiling just thinking about it :)
They still don't know how we've felt, President Bush has class and isn't gloating like the Clintons did through their two miserable terms. How would they like it if Laura Bush was as tacky as Hillary was? They don't know how it felt.
Most interesting thing: they are sure the media is overrun by pro-GOP bias. Hard to believe, but true, and expressed so many ways that I'm sure it is a sincerely held opinion (in the past I've thought that lefties made the charge just to muddy the water). But they really believe it. Interesting, because it makes me question how much of our belief in media bias is really just our own bias. I know that sounds a little crazy, given the behavior of Judy Woodruff, Dan Rather, Bob Schieffer, etc.
Second most interesting thing: the wierd mix of styles of thought. They have a much higher number of really rabid crazies than we do. But they also have a fair number of people who seem on one level to be very clear thinkers, who have a sort of veneer of intellectual honesty about their postings. They admit that the democrats screwed up, and explain with some patience why salvation can only be found by facing the truth and "fixing the problem." The thing is, even these "clear thinkers" live in (what I consider to be) a bizarro world of inverted logic, or even counter-logic. In some cases they seem to be people who actually like being wrong; they seem to think that "normalcy" is some sort of cancer on the world. Really kind of sad.
Third most interesting thing. Many of them seem to actually love this country. It's just that their vision of where we should be headed is -- er -- whacked. I'm not sure what that vision is, but it seems to be something along the lines that eco-socialism PC-gay-topia is the inevitable equilibrium point of all human society, and that the America's great role in human history will be as the catalyst that makes this dream possible.
Fourth most interesting thing: absolutely no sense of humor. One of the things that makes FR so great is the amazing sense of humor and comic timing that some (even many) of the posters here bring to the various threads. I remember even in the darkest days of Clinton, laughing out loud at some of the one-liners in FR threads, even some aimed at ourselves. Nothing like that is visible at DU. Maybe because any sort of levity is taken as a sign the poster is a Freeper spy and will result in banning, I don't know. Anyway, thanks for the link Physicist. Very interesting. A bit sad as well. Schadenfreud is really not a long-term source of psychic fulfillment.

That is a true statement! :-)
I salute your technical talents, btw, thanks!
That's not pain, that's hate.
