...it takes a grass roots effort to win...
I think that the Republican party has known that it does take a grass roots effort to win.
The big problem has been to teach the grass roots.
What have you done to build the grass roots?

I saw that too and I couldn't believe what Matthews and Brazile were saying about Clinton/Clinton...
Matthews is a punk...atleast Brazile is an out-and-out partisan....Matthews is a partisan hack who tries to play the role of a serious journalist.
Anyone see Matthews on Dono-who last night?

Don't know if these are the most recent numbers but CNN is showing Ehrlich has moved ahead of KKT. 50% to 49%.

At least Huckabee (R) is increasing his lead for governor 53-47 with 13 percent in. Still waiting for a statewide update on Senate.

This isn't looking very good. At the very least, it's looking like there will be no "pleasant surprises" in the overall tallies. Looking like the best to hope for is status quo in the Senate and a non-debacle in the House. The worst is enough of a Senate loss to put Chimp in the driver's seat. Whatever happens, it's looking like we're going to have to face a lot of smirking in the coming days. "Thank ya'll fer giving me carte blanch to rape your butts." And the media whores smugly talking about how "This President has scored a triumph and is now officially a God." Sooooooo we'd better practice our perspective in the coming onslaught of spin. Here's my rationalization. This is not an overwhelming victory -- and in many ways not really a victory at all -- for the puglicans. The country is still evenly divided. We are still evenly matched in the big picture. But frankly, now that it's over, I'll say this. The GOP DIDN'T win. Instead, WE LOST. We had the chance to take the big enchilada, but we dropped it. In my opinion, the media whore pundits were right about one thing. The Democrats, for the most part, blew it. We've been lame and sterile. Did not give the non-partisan people anything to vote for. And we didn't even make the case to give them something to vote against -- even though there is plenty to vote against in the GOP. Even if we eke out a tie in this election, we need to reassess everything. IMO the Democrats ought to devise an overarching agenda for true economic reform and social equity and all the good stuff that LIBERALS AND PROGRESSIVES are supposed to stand for. And we need to do it without apologies. Instead, when they punch us for being liberals, we need to punch back with that same liberalsm. And do it WITH CLARITY. That does not have to be a divisive strategy within our half of the spectrum. Being clearly liberal can be coupled with the idea of the Big Tent. The Democrats CAN accomodate everyone from centrists to Greenish types, and of styles from strident to moderate -- IF we share a backbone of common purpose of economic and social justice a la Wellstone and the Progressive Caucus and Sen. Byrd. And start looking to grass roots rather than corporate support. We can take the power -- but we have to find our own power first Okay that's how I'm mentally coping with this night.

LATEST SCHADENFREUDE UPDATE FROM DUh:
we're going to lose the Senate whether Mark Pryor wins or not. I can't believe this is happening. Now it seems Bush will able to do whatever the hell he wants, and there will be recriminations among the Democratic Party about who's responsible. And we'll have to put up with media whores calling Bush the greatest president in history for bucking the mid-term trend. I'm physically sick.
To: comebacknewt
Thune will have better numbers in the western part of South Dakota. Those results are not in yet!
