He's a disabled veteran. If I'm not mistaken, a triple amputee. Uses a wheelchair.

Cleland is in a wheelchair. He lost his leg(s) in VietNam. I'm not sure if it's one or both.

"I am told US Rep Max Sandlin (D)(TX-1) has LOST! Can anyone confirm?"
That's what the CNN website was reporting. Here's hoping they're right on that one.

Connie Morella (R) apparently going down to defeat in my MD district (Montgomery Co.) Chris van Hollen (D) up 5% with 2/3 of votes in.
Is this the first turnover tonight of a House seat to a Dem?

WCVB channel five in boston Massachusetts just projected republican Mit Romney as the winner in the Massachusetts governor race over democrat Shannon O'brien

Thank you for the ping. Actually, in times of critical elections, it's good to remember the "36 Days of Glory of the Siege of Florida" during the presidential elction of 2000 on FR. Sore Loserman t-shirts, Florida freepers and their photos, daily accounts...
It was the best of times to take up basketry weaving and estate planning. Freepers weren't nervous, of course not. Even hard-core anti-drug warriors like Kevin Curry were probably thinking about smoking something. But we survived and we will again. :D

I miss the large freshwater lakes and the dunes (I know, I know, I have the ocean year-round) and fall colors, but I sure don't miss the winters. I can scarcely live in a place that isn't near large bodies of water. I attended UC Berkeley and the view of the bay and the Pacific was one of my comforts. When I was in the Army and stationed in the beautiful city of Nuremburg, Germany my only gripe was that there was no ocean nearby.
Can't blame you for not missing the winters!!
Although the Trib leans left, it's amazing what sometimes appears there. Just the other day, a guy foiled a robbery attempt by brandishing a handgun. The next day it actually made the front page of the Trib!!! It left me slack-jawed.
