Well, we have come to the point where the rubber meets the road. We all have our opinions or gut feelings about what is going to happen in this election. Here is your chance to carve your opinions into stone, or at least, into FR's data base. Tomorrow, or whenever we find out the results, wouldn't it be nice to have the whole world know that you nailed it on the head?
I've picked ten races, just to make the post election math easier. Wanna play?
Hutchinson (R) - Pryor (D) Senate in Arkansas
Chambliss (R) - Cleland (D) Senate in Georgia
Coleman (R) - Mondale (D) Senate in Minnesota
Talent (R) - Carnahan (D) Senate in Missouri
Sununu (R) - Shaheen (D) Senate in New Hampshire
Dole (R) - Bowles(D) Senate in North Carolina
Thune (R) - Johnson (D) Senate in South Dakota
Simon (R) - Davis (D) Governor of California
Bush (R) - McBride (D) Governor of Florida
Ehrlich (R - Townsend (D) Governor of Maryland
OK..Ten races...how many will you get right?
No prizes in this FR contest except the bragging rights and a time/date stamp on your post url, to prove your prognostication prowess!

Greetings Illbay!
Actually, I've not noticed slow down this morning... like I did a few days ago when it was impossible to post. I figure JimR expected this..and maybe he and/or his lucky assistants will say something if it gets out of hand. That's just my humble opinion though.

And I'm pretty sure it's our first vanity. I could be wrong about that but I don't think so, unless you include 'live' threads.
To: Illbay
Want to deny that posting a bunch of repetitive vanity posts is going to make that MUCH worse?
Well, Illbay, I see that someone has gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. This thread isn't repetitive. The popularity of this "guess the winners" contest indicates that we at Free Republic don't perceive this thread as bad idea.
Obviously you disagree. So you had an idea: what if you repeatedly posted how much you hated the thread on the thread itself amongst the many eager postings on this thread? OK, so that was your idea. Hmmmmm. I know you're still in the process of waking up, apparently, but do you see anything mildly silly about your behavior? Like, precisely what are your chances of persuading us that we hate this thread?
It's important to be cheerful on occasion. You should try it. And if you think my post is an idle one which wastes words and slows down the bandwidth, I think you out to look at the man in the mirror first.
VICTORY TO THE REBUBLICANS.

Chris,
I think that dog on the far right has been accused by Hillary! of being a right-wing dog. Hmmmmm. If I were him, I wouldn't answer any calls of: "Car ride? Car boy?!" to Fort Marcy Park.....if you know what I mean.

This is a totally cool contest and will be very popular. Forgive the grumpy ones: it's early in the morning on election day and people are tense.
Did you see that Mudboy is throwing in a book for a prize here? Coolness.
Obviously, there has to be a rule that you can only enter once, right? ;) Just asking . . . .
To: wewillnotfail
OK, for what it's worth
1. Pryor(D)- Dumping your wife for a staffer half your age will not play well in the bible belt.
2. Chambliss(R)- He looked great in the last debate
3. Coleman(R)- an emotional pick for me
4. Talent(R)- Here's betting they realize Carnahan has no business being in the Senate.
5. Sununu(R)- in a squeaker, I hope
6. Dole(R)- although she nearly followed her husband's example of how to lose an election.
7.Thune(R)- one can only hope. What a wonderful rebuke of Dashole this would be.(again I'm being emotional)
8. Davis(D)- Unfortunately this will be a lesser of two evils. The Peoples Republic of California will go for the known quantity.
9. Bush(R)- Jeb's a good man and I don't think McBride can cut the mustard.
10. Erlich(R)- For the third time I'm being emotional. The last thing our country needs is another Kennedy in a position of power.
Prayers for the GOP.

Sounds about right Luke...I just hope the RATS lose more...
Isn't Shaheen governor of NH...how can she be Governor and Senator? What's wrong with this pic?

ROTFLMAO! Mind if I use the new lyrics this weekend?

Haven't been following the national too much (it's hard to when you have the RATs buying votes left and right locally), but I'll play. The winners are underlined, and comments, where warranted, are included:
Hutchinson (R) - Pryor (D) Senate in Arkansas
Chambliss (R) - Cleland (D) Senate in Georgia (This will be VERY close, but I smell upset.)
Coleman (R) - Mondale (D) Senate in Minnesota (And all of McAuliffe's horse<expletive deleted>, and all of Mondull's meds; couldn't stop Coleman, from getting a Washington bed.)
Talent (R) - Carnahan (D) Senate in Missouri
Sununu (R) - Shaheen (D) Senate in New Hampshire (The insanity finally spills over from Vermont and Taxachusetts.)
Dole (R) - Bowles(D) Senate in North Carolina (And another Klintoonista bites the dust.)
Thune (R) - Johnson (D) Senate in South Dakota (The fraud is too much to overcome.)
Simon (R) - Davis (D) Governor of California (Kalifornica is lost; I doubt that even Reagan in his prime would win against Gray-Out Davis in today's Kalifornica. I suggest abandoning ship now.)
Bush (R) - McBride (D) Governor of Florida
Ehrlich (R) - Townsend (D) Governor of Maryland
And, my dark horse call:
McCallum (R) - Doyle (D) Governor of Wisconsin (Despite all the faux mud thrown by the media arm of the AirBingoDoyle campaign, and all their efforts to bury the illegalities of the AirBingoDoyle campaign, the patently-illegal tricks the AirBingoDoyle campaign and the DemonRATs in general have pulled finally catches up to them.)

I think Ehrlich has a chance, actually.
To: wewillnotfail
I predict the dems will create a humongous legal/media mess that will make Florida 2000 look like a warm up exercise. The judges will end up doing what they won't let voters do;
have an honest chance on election day. But, at the end, we will have the Supreme Court and responsive government for six years.

I have to say that I am impressed. You know more about American politics than 99% of Americans (Freepers excepting, of course).

Actually, the site is zipping for me today. Perhaps it's because I followed a fellow Freepers recommendation and went to the FR title page, clicked on edit preferences, and changed from 100 response to 20. Maybe it's a coincidence but since I did that, I'm flyin and have had no "time outs".
Also recommended is removing the "subrcriptions" when things are particularly boggy. I will do that if the server seems to start suffering from strain as the day goes on.

PREDICTED WINNERS:
Pryor-D
Cleland-D
Mondale-D
Carnahan-D
Sununu-R
Dole-R
Johnson-D
Davis-D
Bush-R
Townsend-D
Dems take 7 of 10 races (vote fraud works).

"Hey, I haven't a clue who half these guys are! *L*
Guess I've no chance of winning this contest."Never say never.
I mean, just yesterday the strangest thing happened to me, y'know?
Here's what I mean; I'm at some kind of a website sponsored by British Columbia.
Read a posting by some gal who's thanking the people of BC for a pleasant holiday she'd experienced while visiting. (~last summer ?)
Yup.
She says she's an Irish journalist no-less, too; &, one with a familiar name to people who're known to travel in certain political cyber-circles?
~& I thought to myself, "This gal *sounds* gawd-awful familiar for some reason; nawwwww, couldn't possibly be. Odds would be astronomical her being one in the same person & I stumbling onto her, here."
...anyone you know been to BC, lately?
