In perilous times such as these, filled with Breaking News on practically an hourly basis, words of war, debate about the war, an upcoming election, and scandal after scandal foisted upon this country, it is time that we FR "regulars" share helpful hints and recipes to get us through these busy days and nights ahead, logged on to FR continuously, all the while trying to maintain a "real life" -- or, at the very least, trying to maintain the appearance of one!
Please use this thread to share your experiences -- "what worked for you," if you will -- of past elections and breaking news cycles, in order to help our newest forum members understand what is coming their way -- and the preparations they must make in order to survive and still have somewhat of a life (not to mention brain) in tact after November 5th and the days that follow.
Realizing that new blood brings fresh ideas, us "old-timers" are open to any and all suggestions from any current Freepers who may have a better idea!
"Food for Breaking News" and "Helpful Household Tips to Free Up Time to Freep." ***Those os you who feel COMPELLED to discuss clothing for Freeping, do so at your own peril. |
One word: sweats.
Loved that one! Spraying a little furniture polish in the air near the door always gives a hint of 'cleaning' also. I am doing chili myself.
I am sorry, but I must purloin this excellent line!
I'll settle for anything less than 36 ****ing days. 2000 just about killed me.
I am home for a week w/my wife and brand new baby boy who is already a life long freeper. He and I will be on here all day tuesday. This is by far the greatest website on the planet. You guys are awesome.
My dream is that on election night there are mass arrests of Rats for vote fraud, led by the arrests of the King Rat and his loyal buddy, McAuliffe.
There is much still to do - hopefully some Freepers will be able to keep walking precincts and getting out the vote on through the end of voting time tomorrow!
Second - I plan to not once one second of network television. NONE. It is CALCULATED AND PLANNED to discourage voters.
Any Freeper who casts an eye on one second of ABCCBSNBCCNN or MSNBC or CNBC - should go sit in the corner with the dunce cap on.
THE MEDIA ALMOST STOLE THE 2000 ELECTION FOR ALGORE - AND YOU (WHOEVER WOULD DO THIS) WANT TO GIVE THEM ONE SECOND OF YOUR ELECTION RESULT WATCHING TIME??
One more thing - I plan to spend Tuesday evening in prayer -away from the computer and away from the Television. I will come here on Wednesday morning to get the "results". Because we know that the Demonrats will be challenging every election result that does not go their way. We also know they might find a way to bring on an attack against this country. They will do anything to stop a celebration of victory.
We must not COUNT on celebrating. We must COUNT on praying with thanksgiving and praise!!!! And then praying some more because like 2000, the results - even if good - will NEVER be allowed to be a cause for celebration by Hillary's Demon Horde!
So, bottom line - all - get OUT and work or if you can't leave the computer - for God's sake - all - pick up the phone and call somebody you haven't talked to lately to ask them to go vote the "right" way!!! (END OF LOUD MESSAGE)
My second sentence above should be: Second - I plan to not spend one second watching network television.
Now back to your great thread.
I don't have a checklist, but I'll share my personal "bellwether" races:
1. NC Senate, Dole Vs. Bowles - a Bowles win will mean tough sledding for GOP Senate candidates to the west
2. MA Governor - Romney vs. O'Brien - I see a Romney win as a hint of a Republican tide
3. KY-03 House - Northup vs. Conway - If Northup holds off the fast-charging Conway, if looks good for GOP intensity
4. FL Governor - Bush vs. McBride - a resounding Bush victory will again confirm the intensity of the GOP turnout
Taken together, these races should give an idea of the evening's trends. I expect relatively early calls for this group.
For myself, I intend to vote early and pray a lot. :-)
Tony
Yup, I got DSL just in a nick of time.
1) The media will support any Demoncrat
2) Any Republican leading will be labeled as "surprising" or "upsetting"
3) Prepare to hear about a blizzard of Demoncrat lawsuits challenging Republican wins
4) Expect gloating about Demoncrat wins
5) Expect every Republican loss to be tied to President Bush's failed domestic agenda
6) Don't b!tch about any of this if you didn't vote
If you go the coffee route, make sure you have some real food on hand (chocolate doesn't count) and remember to eat some occasionally. If bad news breaks and the only thing on your stomach is a gallon of coffee, you'll be in great danger of puking your guts out. Trust me on this one.
Other than local election coverage (I'm in Missouri; upclose view of the Carnahan/Talent carnage)I don't trust anything that hasn't been filtered through FR first.
And remember how we felt when somebody finally said HOLD THE PHONE???? What would we have EVER done without each other!
