RUSH -- Mondale looked like a turtle with glasses. Mondale filled the TV screen, colman was shot at a distance. It's a "bigfger than life" Dumocrap trick.

"If Mondale hadn't stumbled over his words so much, we could have had 20 minutes more of meaningful discourse. "
I'm hoping voters remember how he stumbled and studdered.

Basically all Mondale had to do was hold his own and not seem like a doddering old fool. He succeeded and he'll probably win.Rush saying "Mondale managed to appear mean".
He's torn whether to honestly analyze the debate, but fears if he does he'll alienate independents leaning towards Coleman. LOL
Said Mondale looked like a turtle. Says the camera was tight on Mondale to make him appear to fill the screen and seem commanding and Coleman was shown to appear smaller and that it is purposeful.
Rush says Coleman silenced Mondale on the abortion issue.

Rush is talking about the debate now -- said Mondale looked like a turtle -- said the camera was set up to make Mondale "fill the screen" and look larger, while Coleman was a farther shot -- also thinks Mondale came across as mean

Rush says Mondale looks like a turtle w/glasses. Also commenting on camera angles that helped (?) Mondale. Also says that the centerpiece of Mondale's campaign is woman's right to choose, BUT that Coleman socked him w/telling about the deaths of his children. Caused Mondale to sputter and shut down.

A few comments from the cheap seats (read: a thousand miles away in Texas):
--I've been impressed with Norm Coleman over the past week. He's as conservative as I suspect one can be from Minnesota, he's energetic, and most of all sincere in appearance and intent.
--Unfortunately, from what I've read over the weekend, it's the fickleness of self-styled "conservative-leaning undecideds" that may do Norm in tomorrow. I don't know if it's some sort of deferrence born of sentimentality or what, but I've seen figures upwards of 20% of "conservative-leaning undecideds" who are leaning Mondale (as of late last week). If this trend holds and is proven true, GOPers in the land of a thousand lakes have to take themselves to account for not locking down votes that should have gone to Coleman.
Quick note to those with interest in Senate race here in the Lone Star State: it's been raining almost non-stop all weekend here in Houston and will continue to do so through tomorrow. This should help depress turnout here in Houston, where a large portion of the state's registered DEM base calls home. I think GOP wins Gov/Senate with little trouble.

"Any ideas on how Mondale's nasty, contentious manner will play out?"
Well, while in not in MN, an incumbent here in AZ ( in a state senate race) got nasty at the end of the primaries. She sent out a mailing accusing the other guy of stuff that turned out to be wrong.
She had been in the state senate for 10 years (pro-abort Repub. from my district) and she LOST the primary. I'm convinced it was the nasty campaigning at the end.

funniest thing I saw was when Mondale tried to regurgitate his DNC spin and messed it up such that it became clear Mondale was barely alive for the last 10 years and apparently missed the entire internet era. He attacked Coleman, "You probably supported Enron and the worlds dot com". obviously he meant Worldcom but his miss made it clear he didn't know or understand the difference between Worldcom, a communications + internet service provider, and the multitude of internet portals he can only perceive as "dot coms", thus his interpretation of the spin they've been cramming for the past couple days is "the worlds dot com"
To: Howlin
WHY DOES HE KEEP SAYING "INDEPEDENT????????????????" Mondale's the hand-picked candidate, by Daschle, and will be more controlled than Wellstone was controlled.

Thanks. If Mondale had to attack, attack, attack, then you know damn well that the RATS do not like the trends out there.

Mondale says he will go to Washington as an independent...who is he trying to fool. He's as partisan as it gets! You missed the point. I think he meant he was independent of the President and the administration. Thats the way I took it. Independent is code word for not mean Republican.

2. Coleman's brow was wrinkled during most of the debate. It made him look worried and unsure.Oh my.
Coleman was sharp as a tack, never hesitated, never stammered. If voters truly decide important elections on wrinkled foreheads then cry for my country.
