Yes. It is big, and incredibly important. Just imagine, Budge, the number of people who will be intimidated by just having an attorney there....

As a first-time poll watcher, and in the thick of the Arkansas RAT trash district where all this is happening, I just hope I'm up to doing a proper job!

You are right not to get youself in a fazzle. However this is the scenario I have seen (and must confess have used). The mere fact that a lawyer is "recording" all your names is an intimidation trick. Be polite and ask for their name first. Unless they have a court order all official poll watchers should be be recorded with the supervisor of elections.

Removing a polite poll watcher who will immediatly go to the press and party is a stupid move. Report a problem to the head poll worker and if ignored call the party HQ. Make a note for your later testimony. Written notes can be used to refresh your memory.

Doug just hear on KARN radio (Little Rock) that democRATS are going to be at the polling places. They say the lawyers will be there to prevent voter intimadation and illegal challenging of votes!! He tried tto call but couldn't get on air until 3pm, but they are trying to get verification, or so they say.

Lawyers are citizens just like everyone else. A polling place is not a court of law. If a lawyer has a problem then the law established the rules for addressing that problem in court. A partisan lawyer MUST stand in the same place any other partisan citizen, OUTSIDE the specific area. (does anyone know the specific distance in arkasas) No badges, no partisan inditia are permitted inside the safe haven of the polling place.

Will the arkansas bar be watching for unlicensed lawyers? I could not find and arkansas bar hotline for unlicensed lawyers.

Final note be sure to record if a lawyer is providing his/her affidavit for provisional ballots. A lawyer lying on an affidavit is a very serious offense for their license.

I do not know whether it is too late to become a poll watcher here in Brooks County, Georgia, but I intend to head over to the old Armory and find out today. If I can be a watcher, I will carry several printed copies of your post with me when I do my duty.

There is a difference between an Observer and a Poll Watcher. You cannot remove the poll watcher without good cause. You can ask the observer to leave if need be, they are not sanctioned by a group or candidate. They are simply there as private citizens who are observing the process. They cannot ask your name. They cannot talk to the voters. They cannot move about the room. They must either stand or sit where they or told to or else leave. THE OBSERVER HAS NO AUTHORITY AND CAN DO NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. YOU ARE BEING INTIMIDATED BY THE DEMS WORDS. STOPPIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE OBSERVER CANNOT CHALLENGE OR INTERFER IN ANYWAY WITH THE BUSINESS AT HAND, IF THEY DO THEY WILL BE REMOVED. STOP LETTING WORDS INTIMIDATE YOU - IT IS A PLOY THAT THEY HAVE USED WITH GREAT SUCCESS IN THE PAST AND IT IS STILL WORKING TODAY.
