Clinton Makes Entrance By Trash Dumpsters (Arkansas after FReep Report)
November 3, 2002 | Arkansas Hog Wild FReepers

Posted on 11/03/2002 6:07:39 PM PST by sweetliberty

We have just returned to Budge's house to do the FReep report because there is a lot of information to report.

In attendance were Budge, Travelgirl, The Battman, parsifal, Don Frivoinai, sweetliberty, and another FReeper who, for reasons you will come to understand shortly, needs to remain anonymous until after the election.

We arrived at Budge's around noon to get everything set up for the maiden FReep of the Arkansas Hog Wild FReepers and the FReepmobile. We got to the site around quarter after 1 and finished up some signs and headed over to the convention center to await the arrival of XXX42 and his horde of Rats. There we were joined by several folks from the Hutchinson campaign and there were quite a few folks who came down from Mount Ida. There ended up being about 30 of us on the outside.

During the wait, we were informed of quite a few "questionable" things going on. For starters, there was one young man who is active with Tim Hutchinson's campaign who was threatened with arrest if he didn't leave the premises. He had done nothing to provoke this action other than they knew who he was. One of the FReepers who is a poll watcher was also threatened with arrest when she tried to go inside the convention center. Another young man who is a Hutchinson aide had a ticket to the event and because he had been seen talkiing to the "opposition" he was not allowed in, being told that it was a private event and they could exclude whoever they wanted to. There was also a group of black folks who were with us so this young man passed his ticket to one of the black guys, who removed all his campaign stuff and went in incognito, laughing saying that they'd never suspect a black guy. Will give you his report later.

Nobody would tell us what door Clinton would be entering by so we took a chance and hung out on one side of the building where they said the car would drive by. True to form, XXX42 was late by nearly an hour. But here is the great part. We were positioned between 2 entrances. One was a major side entrance. The other was a small, fenced-in service entrance by the garbage dumpsters. Well, guess which one he used. Think....which would be most appropriate. Yep, you guessed it. The snake slithered in through the garbage entrance. And he got a look at our signs. It was a classic moment in FReeperdom.

There was a whopping 500 people or so there for the "event". There were few enough people that there was a Jehovah's Witness convention going on in the building at the same time. When Clinton arrived the Jehovah's Witnesses started leaving. At that time we didn't realize that there was another event going on and Travelgirl and The Battman asked one of the cops on duty why everyone was leaving. He responded, "if Clinton entered a room, what would YOU do?" When the Jehovah's Witnesses left, the parking lot started clearing out.

Anyway, we may have to flesh in this post after we all get home because there is a lot to tell, but there is certain information that it is very important to get out there NOW! Back to our "spy". When he came out, he said they were running it like a church service, and the whole focus was on how the evil Republicans are trying to keep them from voting. They were saying that we have all the poll watchers this election to prevent THEM from voting. Now, here is the clencher. They were told that there would be attorneys posted at every precinct to prevent poll watchers from challenging ANY ballots. Now, mind you, one of our poll watchers has already had massive problems with them at the polls during early voting the past couple of weeks and has been advised to retain an attorney. They have had the sherriff remove her from the polls twice when she had done nothing inappropriate...only challenging ballots for improper or no ID. There is an all out campaign by these people to intimidate the poll watchers and then turn around and accuse us of voter intimidation. This is serious and at least one person has some legitimate fear. I can't really elaborate at this point. The reason we wanted to get this up right away is to get other FReepers on the case to get this publicized and contact appropriate media, political and legal sources to alert them that Republican poll watchers in this county are likely to be facing an organized, all-out Rat attack. Any help that FReepers can offer is needed!! Make phone calls, send letters. Whatever you can do. Post your ideas as well.

Hey, I don't have blue hair! If you have attended the training classes, and here it was mandatory, follow proceedure, as set down by law, then you have nothing to worry about.

If you use your best judgement and in questionable situations refer the person to the Judge, Clerk or whomever is in charge, you will have no problem.

Each state should require one of three forms of Identification as South Carolina does, Drivers License, Identifcation Card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles or their Voters registration card. The information contained on these items should match the print out that the poll worker has been given. If it doesn't, then the poll worker is the one to direct the person elsewhere.

The only information I am required to give anyone is the number of persons who have voted. No one is allowed to be behind me at the table where I will be working nor or they allowed to come behind the voting machines.

The only time anyone may go near someone at the voting machine is if they have asked for help.

Poll Watchers are to be seen and not heard. They must present a letter from the group they are with. They are there merely as observers. They can at times ask how many people have voted, but that's about it. They are there to watch and are not really part of the process that leads to the voting booth. They can take notes, that's it. It's a boring job from what I've been told by the Poll Watchers I know. Sitting and being quiet for 12 hours is hard!!!! (I can't be quiet for five minutes, much less an hour! Hush, AV, don'tcha say a word!)

Take the time to know the law, take the time to be trained, take the time to serve yourself, your neighbors, your community, your state and your country. VOTE!

By the way, it doesn't hurt to do what is in the preceding paragraph. So just DO IT!!!! VOTE!!!!!

" Maybe he went that way because that's where his major 'Rats were."

Or as one of the FReepers mentioned last night, he thought it would be good place to find HIS kind of women.

Honestly, after seeing him in person I am even more baffled as to what ANY woman could have EVER seen in him. He makes my skin crawl!

"The pay rate was $40.00 and a free dinner..."

The ONLY people that were there holding up any RAT signs on the outside were 4 or 5 kids who were being paid....the same $40 and a chicken dinner. I don't know that it is illegal, just tacky maybe. I think it may be illegal to do that with voters.

The lawyers cannot challenge, they cannot intimidate, they can't do a blooming thing unless they are a official Poll Watcher.

Since elections are public functions, individuals representing organizations or themselves may observe the election process. Observers may stay inside the polling place, if they do not talk with voters or disturb the election process. Because of the size of a polling place, observers may be limited in number.

Observers, as with anyone else in the polling place, may not display any type of campaign literature, including a badge of piece of clothing.

So you see anyone can come and observe. Certain persons will be designated by the others to be Watchers.

Go and observe what takes place in your polling place. You must be DESIGNATED by a candidate or group and have a letter stating such and signed by the head of that organization or Candidate. You can't just walk in a say I'm a watcher. It doesn't work that way.

Study your local and state election laws.

Everyone here is getting hysterical over nothing. Y'all have failed to look at this from the point of view of the Dems - 99% of the public is ignorant of the law, especially election law.

Call your local board and get a copy of the law. It's very simple to do, just go to your public library or ask the election board or the party headquarters of your choice.

Don't let words intimidate you. Be armed with the facts and let the law back you.

As someone else said: "Silly FReepers, the laws are only for Republicans!"

Thanks MS! A quick story to tell about our Freep yesterday.

From where we parked the Freepmobile to the Convention Center was only three blocks by the numbers. But two of those blocks were LONG! Don Friovinai and I were the last to leave the Freepmobile to walk there. By the time we got to the far side of the building where I took the picture of the two $40 a day and chicken dinner sign holders, I was out of breath and a sore was starting on my leg stump. We walked to the back far side of the building where I took the picture of DF holding two signs.

We stayed in contact with Travelgirl, sweetliberty and the others via cell phone. We checked in and they asked us to go back to the front door while they manned the back door. DF and I started back to the front, DF leading the way all the while holding up the two double faced signs, I was lagging behind.

We made it back to the front of the building where the sore on my leg was really beginning to get my attention. TheBattman soon joined us. I took a couple of pictures, and DF took mine with TheBattman in front of the “B” entrance. The “B” entrance goes directly through the building to the back entrance where Sweetliberty, Travelgirl and the others were posted. TheBattman decided to go around the building to join them. DF and I stayed at the front where few, very few people went in. Someone had dropped a small American flag that Don Friovinai retrieved it and proudly displayed it in his jacket pocket.

We checked in with the others and decided to join them since there was more foot traffic there. DF, tottin’ his signs started the long trek all the way around the building. I decided to chance cutting through it. I walked in and saw a young man wearing an official badge. I paused and asked him if there were many people there for the rally. He replied, ”I don’t know, I’m with the Jehovah Witnesses.” I thanked him and continued my short, by comparison to TheBattman and Don Friovinia’s walk around the building, walk through the concourse.

I was wearing my warm Free Republic jacket and sporting a cap with “Don’t blame me…I didn’t vote for THE DOPE FROM HOPE” emblazoned on it. As I approached the backside door where I could see the other FReepers outside I spotted a Mark Pryor booth. Thinking I too might get a little American flag I walked up to them, was warmly greeted and asked them if they had the little flags. They didn’t, but asked me if I wanted a Mark Pryor sticker. I agreed and the young lady placed it on my shirt where the FR jacket was opened, my cap right in front of her face. They then asked me if I would like some bottled water. Thinking the others may need a sip, I took one. The label wasn’t a normal label but a political statement for Pryor. I laughed to myself thinking of the irony.

I was so tired I couldn’t open the door so a policeman opened and held it for me. As I walked (hobbled actually) toward the others an elderly couple approached headed to the X-42 rally. I asked the man if he would mind putting the bottle of water in my jacket pocket, all the while expecting a backlash from them for the cap I was wearing. But they were nice and he gladly did so!

This isn’t much of a story, but I though, and still think it odd and funny that no one, not one democRAT questioned my political thinking!

P.S. More pictures later.

"Observers, as with anyone else in the polling place, may not display any type of campaign literature, including a badge of piece of clothing."

From what I heard yesterday, this was being ignored by some Rats too and any challenge to it was also causing a disturbance. Don't be surprised if there are Republican poll workers and watchers in jail by the days' end tomorrow....not for being disruptive but for trying to do their jobs honestly and getting in the Rats' way.

The big problem here is that there are so many "illegitimate" voters and we do have the responsibility to challenge a ballot if the legitimacy of the voter is in question. THEY consider that to be disruptive! Well, maybe if they weren't trying to let illegitimate voters go through unchecked, it wouldn't be an issue! DUH!!!

Very clever, by the way, Clinton finally realizes what entrance he is suited for.

They were told that there would be attorneys posted at every precinct to prevent poll watchers from challenging ANY ballots.

Thanks for the pings! This info should be passed on to every SOE in every county in every state. They are responsible for overseeing the election workers. There is no way that these Dem. lawyers can come in and intimidate Republican voters and pollworkers.

Just last week a Judge in Fla., acting on a complaint from Janet Reno and Kendall Coffey for the Dems., refused to allow over 400 GOP pollwatchers into the polls, claiming that these pollwatchers could cause chaos. ????!!!

They aren't missing here! We have high school and college kids that are working at the polls right along side us! The Election Commissison in South Carolina is going to the schools and educating the kids. They are actively recruiting them. Every election that I have worked, we have had a least two kids. They are great ones too. Curious, smart and wanting to understand what is happening.

One thing that is stressed here, is that on election day, you have no party affliation. You are working for the "general welfare of the people". If you feel that you cannot be impartial, then you are asked not to be a part of the process.

Although the rest of the year, I work for the conservative causes, on that one day, I will give up all party affliations to work for the Election Commission and my fellow South Carolinians and other Americans.

Well, there is that blonde gene that keeps rearing it's head, AV, I mean .... well... uh, lol.

No, what happened in Florida won't happen again. But our State election commissions must see that it doesn't. It is their responsibility as well as yours and mine to see that it doesn't happen again.

We must see that all polls are fairly and impartially run. That means education (yep, there it is, rearing it's head again). It means going into the schools, starting with the Middle and High schools and on into the colleges. Actively retruiting and educating.

NOT ON THE ISSUES, but on what the Constitution, Bill of Rights, State Constitution, State Bill of Rights, Election Laws and what they can do to help. It mean taking a non-partisan stance and getting the people to help get the vote out.

Can you do that? Can you educate and recruit the youth without being partisan? Can you get up in front of a group and say "I'm not here to preach about Republic Party or the Democratic party, I'm here to talk to you about your Constitution and your Bill of Rights - both for your country and your state. What your rights and responsibilities are, because make no mistake YOU have the responsibility to see that these rights are retained forever.

Your primary responsibilitiy is to become informed, to know etc, etc, etc...

Okay, okay, off the soap-box!

Do you have the 24/7 email? Would you mention the need for lawyers giving assistance to be licensed by that specific state and they have to provide their State Bar# and Photo ID.

This is a pet peeve of mine.

If a lawyer comes up to act all authoritative remind him he has to stand beyond the partisan zone. Lawyers will try to intimidate by their self percieved authority. It is all bark and no bite. What can they do? NOTHING. Have the number to your party HQ incase you need back up. If the Lawyer happens to be an official poll watcher they can NOT function as a partisan lawyer! They can watch OR if licensed they can lawyer NOT BOTH.

One warning. Beware dems following scorched earth. They will try and drag you into a "conflict" (verbal or otherwise) so if they must go they will make you go too.

Have a cell phone, Have a notepad and pen, video cammera if possible and allowed. KNOW YOUR BACKUP!!

If the observers are causing a disturbance and they will not leave as requested then THEY will be they ones that the police will deal with, not the poll worker.

Observers are just that - observers, they cannot challenge, they cannot interfer in anyway with the process. If they do they will be requested to leave. If they don't it is very simple to pick up the phone and have either someone from the election commission handle the problem or the police.

The poll worker will only ask the observer one time to leave, after that it is someone else's responsibility. Why are people making a mountain out of a mole hill. Propaganda is dangerous and what I am seeing with the hysteria on this thread is the outcome of propaganda. Scare tactics only. It's working too. The Democrats are succeeding - they are going to have the majority of people so scared to do anything that they will be able to get away with anything.

STOPPIT!!!!

Realize what they are doing. Arm yourself with knowledge and not fear and anger. Don't get yourselves in such a frazzle! Stop and think - this is normal scare tactics that have worked in the past and it sure is working now, isn't it. Go back and read the posts and notice the hysteria throughout this thread.

And above all QUIT FALLING INTO THE TRAPS SET FOR YOU BY THEM BECAUSE YOU THEN BECOME THE PROBLEM, NOT THEM....
