Nothing will kill a wild creature quicker than captivity.

It is applied here to a variety of Stupid Human Tricks-type stories. This raccoon story is a different take, to say the least

Seems 90% of the "Hold Muh Beer Alerts" appended to headlines on FR lately are a different take. Half the people using it now clearly have no idea what it means. And another 25% are really stretching when they type it, because they are so desparate to join in.

Do a search here on "Hold Muh Beer" and check out some of the other stories that have earned this recognition, you'll get a good idea of what it's all about.

Or maybe not, as per my post #43.

Junkie. Good riddance.

He wasn't a bad coon, he was just misunderstood. To catch a coon you can drill a hole just big enough for the coon to reach into a hollowed place in the log. Drop a coin in like a quarter that is shiny. The coon is attracted to it and will reach in, but when he makes a fist with the coin in it, he can't remove his paw, and he won't let go of the coin. And he is caught.

If you've ever had one make a home in your attic, leaving steamy raccoon poop for weeks on end while you tried to catch it, like I have, you might have a different attitude toward them. Actually, I know you'd have less sympathy.

Actually, you are wrong. Had a coon in the attic, less than a month ago. Of course, being smarter than the coon, I didn't spend weeks on end trying to catch it. We heard it in the attic one night, set out a live trap in the morning, had it caught by noon, and released it down by the river that evening. Came home from releasing said coon, and found a possum on the back porch.

Perhaps my coon was simply more crafty. I tried the trap, and he never would go for it, no matter what I tried for bait. I had determined how he got in there, but was afraid to seal it off in fear that he'd die and stink up the place.

Finally, I ran a speaker into the attic and played an annoying radio station all night very loud. I didn't see him in the attic in the morning (although I couldn't be sure), and I blocked the openings in the attick. I lucked out, because the noise had scared him off.

We used cat chow mixed with peanut butter. mmm good. That coon couldn't resist such a tasty snack.

I can't believe you people. All you alpha males "It's great to see an animal suffer and let's make jokes." Some FReepers just make me sick.

I'm not a PETA person, I'm pro 2A and hunting. But I believe if an animal is going to die it should die fast and quick and not suffer. For you all to make jokes just shows how shallow you really are.

Check Shermy's profile page. Why don't you all start a thread about Marjan and how funny it is that he got "stoned" to death by the Taliban SOBs. And don't tell me to "lighten up"; you stated your opinions now I'm stating mine . Have a wonderful weekend fellas.

I fail to see how a pun about an old advertising slogan translates into "it's great to see an animal suffer". But I guess with a horse that high, you have to stretch a bit to reach it.

I know you weren't joking. I guess you didn't understand my sarcasm.

Personal attacks...oh please. Hardly. Please expain where I personally attacked you? I'd like to know. Can't handle a little debate or critizism on your opinion without feeling "personally attacked"?

You shouldn't be posting in a forum if you can't handle a little dispute.

Grow up.

They shouldn't simply bury or burn this racoon, but memorialize it.

Preserve its memory as a Davy Crocket hat.

Raccoons are disgusting, dirty animals, full of disease and are nothing but a nuisance. Good riddance.

They probably think the same of us. Actually I prefer them to most people.

Nah. At least with deer you have hunting season. We feed them out of the garden all summer to fatten them up for the fall. It is a fair trade.

MMMmmmm Corn Fed Bambi.....

'Rats just leach off you giving nothing in return. They vote for higher taxes and bigger government programs and... oh,
you are talking about the four legged kind. Never mind.

I have got to go pack for tomorow. Gun season started this morning.
