Camps spar over Romney word choice
Gender issue raised on 'unbecoming'
It means unsuitable, indecorous, and it's viewed by many as an archaic, ill-fitting corset of a word. When Mitt Romney described Shannon O'Brien's attacks on him in Tuesday night's debate as ''unbecoming,'' he raised the ire of her female supporters, who used the description to rally their cause yesterday.
Teresa Heinz, a philanthropist and wife of US Senator John F. Kerry, told a crowd of some 750 women at an O'Brien fund-raiser yesterday that Romney would be surprised at how many ''unbecoming women'' were gathered for the event at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel.
US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, a New York Democrat, told the crowd that years ago the ambitions of women who wanted to vote or run for public office were described as ''unbecoming.'' Clinton drew roaring applause when she said she found Romney's comments ''unbecoming.''
That single word opened a new front in the campaign as O'Brien's supporters seized upon it to reintroduce the question of gender in the final days of the race. Romney, campaigning with US Senator John McCain, defended his word choice as gender-neutral.

Well, they managed to make "philanderer", "rapist", "perjurer", "rabid Socialist", "liar", "forgetful", "thief", "hateful", "petty", "tacky" and even "murderer" into positive character traits....but back then she had her Co-Conspirator-in-Chief" and his cigar to help her with that...
Progressives think it is all right to apply the word "unbecoming" to something other than women. They actually used "unbecoming" in defense of Bill.
The impeachments real race angle
If only the political class had the good sense to rely more directly on the people to decide Clintons fate -- not the white proxies in the Senate. The people have decided on Bill Clinton already. Twice. So heres the real choice we have before us. Which do we really prefer? The rabid, politically self-serving partisanship of the House? Or the Senates stuffy, elite white paternalism?
No wonder politics seems so unbecoming.
It is confusing, I admit. But, both Hillary and Mrs. Heinz do seem to think that acting in a "unbecoming" manner can be very "positive."
(This could be a new trend. )
True.
As long as they agree that the perpetrator has his (or her) heart in the "right" place, anything goes.

LOL...maybe a new "verbal fashion trend". She's already tried to turn all that is loathsome about the human race into "positive character traits." This is just more of the same unbecoming pattern of behavior.
You're right!!
Soon none of us will have to struggle with ourselves to become a better person. It's inspiring to think of how perfect we will be.
No more crimes, no more prisons...a shortcut to paradise.

The "Wimpy Wiberal Woman" disease is spreading.
One of the identifying features of the disease is the constant repitition of the phrase
"I am being victimized by a male who insists on treating me as an equal."
Yeah. Utopian Relativism. Or Relative Utopianism. Brought to us by The Wizards of Is-Is.
May I not live to see the day.
This disease is known in certain parts of the country as the Wah!! Wah!! Wah!! disease.
