I hope this doesn't violate a rule of some sort but it bears directly on several threads I've seen recently.
I have never been one to avoid speaking plainly with my kids about anything including politics, religion ect. Recently, my 11 year old son said he would be learning about islam in his geography class so I have been prepping him with some pertinant questions and info to "share" with his class. I also told him should his teachers in any way attempt to force him to violate his religious beliefs he should contact me emmediately.
Not ten minutes ago he called and said the class is engaged in an exercise where they are to pretend they are muslims and explore how they would react to being made to eat pork and/or other violations of the muslim faith. He sought my guidence in whether he should seek to excuse himself from this class or not.
My first reaction was to tell him ask to be excused, but on second thought I changed my mind and my aproach to this problem. I explained to him that he should return to class and say he has consulted with his imam who has now issued a fatwa against the NEA decreeing them to be infidel polluters of the faith and subject to jihadi action by all faithful followers of islam.
He's a sharp kid and he asked how far he can go with it. I told him that as his imam I am authorizing the blowing up of children, woman, non-combatants, old people, and TEACHERS in particular. This is a matter of self defense I said so killing them in nasty ways is morally justyfied by the teaching of the quran. I am awaiting his return from school or a call from his teacher.
I would love to hear from other FReepers what you all think about my little bit of activism. Again, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum or a breach of rules.
The description you gave of him sounds like my 11 yo son to a tee.
The local school tried this "diversity" crap here after 9/11 so as to curb any "backlash" against Muslims here locally. You know, the "they are not all terrorists and we should be sensitive crap". My son took his gym towel out of his bag, rolled it on to his head ( a la post shower style ) and stood up in class and shouted "JIHAD!!"
His teacher is one of those few nonPC teachers left ( she has prayer in her classroom and the kids celebrate the holidays in their religious contexts in her class ) and she rolled laughing. She had to leave the room because of her laughing so hard.
Jacob is not afraid to share his opinions nor is he afraid to dispel many untruths about Bill Clinton either to those kids in his class who have already been indoctrinated to the leftist ideas of their parents.
So far, no phone calls from the school!
As to glass empty/half full, we hear how only 10% of muslims are following radical Islam. We also hear how there are 1billion muslims in the world. That makes 100million followers of radical Islam (a bit more than 5,000).
Go to some of the Islamic Q&A sites to see how the Imam stand on things.
I can coexist with peaceful muslims but not with radical Islamists. The peaceful muslims claim that the Islamists are not following genuine Islam. Good. Then they should have no problems helping us to rid the world of radical Islamists, should they?
From last year:
My question is that Is Osamah bin Laden is really a hero of Islamic Ummah? If he is involved in bombings at US Embassies worldwide (as US government claims) did he done any service to todays Muslim world? Is it right to kill Americans whether government officers in such bombings according to Islamic rules? My second question is that Do Taleban government of Afghanistan done right by demolishing the Buddhah statues? There are wide Fatwas against there this act. What is your fatwa?
Answer 2494 2001-03-311. Usama ibn Laden is a practising Muslim, and thus, our brother in Islam. He has made many sacrifices for the Deen, in particular, the Jihaad of Afghanistan. While we respect him for this, we do not raise any person to any position, except that which Allah Ta'ala wishes.
2. He himself has denied involvement. Why should we then doubt him? Even if a billion Kuffaar say the opposite, the word of a single practising Muslim is more acceptable to us.
3. It was an Islamic duty for the Taliban to have destroyed the idols.

Wrong answer?
Do they make everyone "pretend" to be Christian when they cover America?
Find out also if they claim that Islam is very similar to the Judeo-Christian beliefs. If they don't present Judaism and Christianity, they aren't teaching the whole lesson. Many students may not have a familiarity with the Jewish or Christian faiths. How are they different? When did these differences arise? How do the followers treat those of other faiths?
It sounds like just a chance to pitch Turkey as being an example of a "peaceful" muslim nation.
The girls will be escorted out of the classroom so as not to tempt the male students.
The girls will still receive a grade for the material but will not be permitted to actually participate so they will get an "incomplete" and a failing grade because they are female. A very quick and powerful lesson in Islamic society.
The student can appeal the grade to the principal but if he determines the girl is due punishment, the class shall be gathered at recess on the playground to throw dodgeballs at her until she is exhausted or the sun sets.
There's no way out of that one.
The answers about that I've read from the imam are that "it wasn't his first wife, he did it to take care of her, he waited 3 years before consumating the marriage, it was a different era..."
None of these responses justify childbrides in my mind.
There was a separate question posed on the Ask The Imam forum. Muslims may marry minors. Once married there is no prohibition on sex (the woman is the man's wife after all). If she is married before puberty, the wife will be allowed to reconsider the marriage when she reaches puberty. Shariah Law permits this and thus is the justification for its acceptance.
Can you name a single Islamic country that doesn't persecute Christians?
Why does Saudi Arabia require the death penalty for muslims who convert to Christianity?
Late Talking Children and The Einstein Syndrome
You can buy them from Amazon here. Or from your prefered book source.
Can you imagine if they were studying the Holy Land and they were asked to do Jewish things, or how about Christian things -- check out the locale of the death of Christ geographically.
Just keeping those two scenarios geographic would have the ACLU and the low xxhi%)^$ like them hauling one into court.
The role playing took the form of a short skit about a muslim boy named Ali from Turkey at a picnic or bar-B-que here in the US. One of the American boys asked him if he would like to play kick ball. Ali doesn't know what that is so it is explained that it is a game like soccer. To which my son replied, "in our soccer stadiums we hang infidels". He is then offered a piece of cooked pork {Ribs, I gather} to which he said, "You are trying to pollute my faith in islam and so I declare jihad against you. Skit ends.
In keeping with the spirit of the class and my rules about being polite and respectful, he tailored his responses and the role admirably while still making the point about islam being violent.
An interesting side note to this is that his teacher {a man} laughed and said, "That's a hardcore muslim". {possible freeper?} No gain saying or chastisement at all.
They were given a few quotes from the quran to read. I think maybe I'll give him a few, more relavent quotes to read to the class.
My son Nikki informs me that they will be studying islam and the middle east for a week or so. I'm going to print out a raft of stuff tonight so he's well armed for these discussions.
Thanks to all who replied.
