3rd Person Involved in Beltway Sniper Case? Montgomery AL Police Chief Wants to Know.
Fox News ^ | 27 Oct 02 | Rita Cosby

Posted on 10/27/2002 8:57:58 PM PST by Alas Babylon!

Rita Cosby interviewed Montgomery, AL Mayor Bobby Bright and Police Chief John Wilson. Wilson told Cosby he was very concerned because both Muhammed and Malvo were on foot, being chased by police officers. The chase was interrupted by a large blue car that Muhammed ran into, putting both hands on the hood to prevent him coliding with it. After this moment, both men being chase escaped. Later--still in September, Montgomery police put out a public call for the driver of the blue car to come forward; fingerprints on the car could be used to break the case. However, and a little surprisingly, no one came forward.

Now Chief Wilson is concerned about the car. It was going through a fast food drive thru when the foot chase began. Wilson explained that BOTH Mohammed and Malvo were, at that moment, being persued on foot. Then the blue car came directly at Muhammed, nearly hitting him. Shortly after, the foot chase ends with the escape of Muhammed and Malvo. Wilson is concerned the car is in fact the blue 1990 cheverolet that Muhhamed and Malvo were using in Washington. He then stated he is concerned that if this is the case, then who was driving this car on September 21st, while Muhammed and Malvo were being chased on foot by Montgomery, Alabama policemen?

I haven't had much time to be here either, but I've got this thread bookmarked!

I wonder how much more is going to be coming out.

Obviously, it was a white Christian male, aged 20-30, who is an NRA member with some military experience.

Don't forget, he reads " Guns and Ammo" ;-)

"Chief Wilson wants to nail the bastards who killed the poor lady in Montgomery, Al.. " Well the Chief had his chance to nail the bastards in Ala. What happened to the cop's guns? They had 2 or 3 murderers in their sights and managed to do nothing to stop them....I think Chief has a lot of explaining or CYA to do!

That is not the fault of our police or of the Chief - it is the fault of our illustrious Mayor bobby NOT SO bright. HE has instituted a policy that basically ties our polices hands -- they must be "in danger of their life" or another person "must be in imminent danger" for our cops to shoot a suspect. If the suspect is running they must subdue him/her/them -- if they shoot them they LOSE THEIR JOB!

We have a liberal pipsquek suck up to the "underpriviledged" mayor. Their was a shooting of a Black Teen right after he took over - the kid had beaten an old woman and was running from the cops, I don;t remember all the details, but he was shot and it turned out the only weapon he had was a knife.

"Am I the onluy one that thinks it odd that the driver of the getaway car would be stopping off for some fast food instead of waiting around the corner?"

Indeed. But, they may have all known that the perps were going to kill everyone and then just stroll over to the get-away car. The police just 'happened' to pull up during the robbery. Still, if there wasn't someone else involved, how did they get away?

The Alabama police are absolutely correct, and they are HEROES!
They did the best detective work and THEY cracked this case with just a little help from US Marshalls.

Chief Moose not only couldn't solve it, he is personally responsible for at least the last 6 deaths because of his total incompetance, P.C. blindness, and selfish desire to keep all facts to himself.

Losing their jobs may be the least of their worries. The police could be charged with a crime in today's PC environment.

Thanks for the this reply. Amazing how many on Free Republic are going after John Wilson and saying nothing about PC Moose. They either hate all cops including the good cops or they love PC Moose and enter Straw Men Bravo Sierra to make good cops look bad.

It looks like they’ve got the shooter on that one. From the Washington Post, 9/4/02:

The overflow crowd of more than 800 included 16-year-old Janice Ball, the only member of the family to survive. Her boyfriend, Westley Devone Harris, 22, is accused of shooting the six to death on Aug. 26, then fleeing with her and her 11/2-year-old baby, Neshea.

Sean Hannity said on his radio show last week that a friend of his wife's witnessed the shooting in Montgomery, AL. She was working in a shop next door to the liquor store. After the shooting, she looked out a window and saw a perp get into a white van. How would a white van fit into this picture?

I figured the info you were looking for would be reported in an Arizona rag, and was right. The relevant paragraphs are:

Investigators also have found connections to more minor crimes. A letter believed left by the sniper demanding $10 million included the number of a credit card stolen from a Greyhound bus driver as she drove between Nogales and Flagstaff, Ariz., in March, according to Saturday's Washington Post. Authorities told her the card had been used to buy gas in Tacoma.

Federal investigators are also looking into the possibility that Muhammad smuggled people into the United States for profit, The Miami Herald said. The government of Antigua will also investigate Muhammad for possible ties to a smuggling and fake documents operation there, The Seattle Times reported Sunday.

Source: AZ Central.com in an AP article datelined Seattle and published today.

Yes, the credit card was stolen back in March in Arizona and used a few days later in Tacoma. Washington Post
"The credit card in question belonged to a Greyhound bus driver in Flagstaff, Ariz., whose driver's license and credit cards were stolen March 25. The woman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the cards were taken from a pouch behind her seat while she was driving a bus on the 337-mile route between Nogales, Ariz., and Flagstaff.

She did not realize the Visa card had been stolen until Bank of America's fraud control branch wrote her April 11, saying it had automatically closed the account after the Visa was used for a $12.01 gasoline purchase in Tacoma, Wash., that the bank believed to be fraudulent.

"That was the end of that, until last Sunday when I had the FBI calling me at Greyhound, saying that through this credit card they [had a link to] the people involved with the sniping," she said."

Yes, it does. It seems pretty clear that the Alabama and sniping murders were not the first crimes committed by Mohammed and Malvo.

If Osborne's fingerprints are found in the car, it wouldn't mean anything, since he's the vehicle's co-owner.
