GLOCKTOBERFEST! Post event Wrap-up with pictures

=====

GlocktoberFest

Our much anticipated event, GlocktoberFest, went off with only the most minor of hitches. It was wet and drizzly at times, but we didn't get the heavy rain that was predicted. We had 11 HAT Chapter FReepers in attendance, 2 out of town FReepers as well as 2 guests. Lodwick gets the award for the longest trek [Austin] and Bigun followed with a close second [Huntsville]. The HAT folks that were there are Flyer, RikaStrom, Humblegunner, BobbyD, Eaker, Dix, COB1, EastForker and Missus Eastie, PetroniDE and Retired AF Warrior.

The weapons present included a .300 Winchester, 2 SKS's, 3 Glock .40's, a Sig Sauer .40, a S&W 9mm, 22 magnum Winchester lever action, .357 Ruger, H&K SLB-1, several .22 target pistols, a Sig 228, a CZ 75b and others. The individual gun owners are encouraged to talk about their guns for clarity.

I can't even guess at the number of rounds that were fired. Let's just say A LOT! It was a priceless opportunity to fire a wide variety of weapons at a single outing.

Post-range we retired to the home of our gracious hostess, RikaStrom. The intermittent rain moved our plans from her backyard into the garage. We mixed casual conversation, political talk and great food. The menu include brisket, Elgin sausage, shrimp, potato salad, chips, dips, sodas and beer. A big Texas thanks to all that participated and volunteered with food and supplies to help make this a success.

After our guests and out of town FReepers left we also conducted Chapter business, as this event was in lieu of our regular monthly meeting.

It has been suggested that we not wait another year and instead schedule an event in the spring. In the spirit of COB1 and Eaker we may call it. . . Springfield Break!

Is there anything like this for GA Freepers?

Dansangel is a Georgian [Georgia-ite?] and a shooter, let's ask her.

Is there anything like this for GA Freepers?

Unfortunately, the GA Chapter is extremely inactive. I would love to see a N.Atlanta Chapter spin-off, but don't see it happening (No, I couldn't possibly even think about starting anything...I work a 50-hr week!).

aeronca, what part of GA are you from? You may be able to find some local individual FReepers that would like to get together for a shoot. If you're near N. Atlanta metro area, .45MAN and I would be up for an event. I could roust up a few others possibly.

2 years ago last summer myself and a few of my friends who like that sort of thing held an informal long range rifle match at the VERY same range we were at yesterday.

We each hung two targets on the 500 yard line and fired 20 rounds at each target within the one hour per target allotted (not counting cease fires). We were allowed to go down range only ONE time during the match (after everyone had completed firing at their left target).

I shot that match with the same rifle you fired yesterday and, happily, ALL my shots went inside the 6" 10 rings of the targets.

I was happy and my friends were suitably impressed! For THAT day anyway!

What a wonderful job of wrapping it all up Flyer.

It was so much fun and the Al-Clayda army made our invasion so easy in their snazzy orange outfits!

We'll have to see if anyone got a shot of me and that monstrosity that COB brought. It would look a great deal like that practice pic from the other day. LOL

What was so neat was the opportunity to shoot a variety of weapons. I've already got two on my wish list, but I don't think Easty and Cob will voluntarily give theirs up. ;-)

Wouldn't it be great to have a once a year shoot-out event with freepers from all over the United States??!

"We'll have to see if anyone got a shot of me and that monstrosity that COB brought."

Rika, when you shoot a clip of ten in five seconds and destroy the whole darn Al-Clayda Army, there's not enough time to get a picture!!

You guys should've given MC a heads up...his [and his toy's] participation would've no doubt been the highlight of the event.
