FoxNews slams Military: Major Label of Sniper is "Army Vet" NOT "Islamic Sniper"
Fox News, 01:00 AM (NewsBreak)

Posted on 10/24/2002 10:18:49 PM PDT by xzins

This is outrageous!

The truth is that

1. Islamics blew up the World Trade Center
2. Islamics blew up a wing of the Pentagon in which many members of the ARMY died.
3. Islamics blew up the USS Cole in which US military died.
4. Islam is the issue with Al Quaeda and Bin Laden.

This man is JOHN MUHAMMED, an Islamic who was "sympathetic" to the 9/11 terrorists.

He's been out of the Army for years. He never received specialized training in sniping in the Army. He DIDN'T MAKE IT in the Army.

But the lead is: "Army Vet"

As a 20 year Army retiree, I deeply resent this, but I resent even more the politically correct culture that makes it impossible to call an islamic terrorist an islamic terrorist.

I'm with you Reagan Man, but there's no point arguing about it. Let folks vent. Yes, the man was a US Serviceman. That is a fact. Yes, he is a Mulsim. That is a fact, and quite frankly, with the last name Muhammed, it probably doesn't need much emphasizing, even if the lib press wants to downplay it. And no, he isn't white, which is also obvious to the whole world. Facts are facts. The libs will spin. Just let people vent. My two cents.

That guy is more of an Army vet than an "Islamic" terrorist. He only converted to Islam last year - meaning it was a superficial "conversion", merely a traitor's response to 9/11.

It would take a LOT of time to get out $10 from a cash machine at 400 bucks a pop.

But in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon WHICH also TAKE Mastercard

It wouldn't take any time at all to make a credit transfer, would it....IF the account had that much credit available and blockage prevented by sniper/murder extortion.

Now I am pi**ed off!!. I, being a former Marine (uh, forget that part - all of us were a little lacking in mental faculties) and a Gulf War vet am quite incensed at the mention of the fact of this guy's Gulf War service - as if that was what wholly defined his nature. As in most of the previous posts, it seems quite apparent that what makes up the man in this case is his Islamic beliefs and his terrorist actions. . Still truckin'

NOpe...he officially changed his name last year.

The dude has been Islamic for years. ONe of the issues in his divorce was telling his wife "clean" foods his kids could eat according to Islam.

they're making too much out of his marksmanship score...one would have to go back to the range where he last shot expert, and see how many times he actually shot expert- many ranges are old, with mechanical pop up targets that don't work, thus creating "alibi's" at the end of the session where the shooter expends the last of his ammunition on closer targets- if he had a "spotter" sitting on the bench next to him counting his hits, instead of recording them electronically his score would go up- a lot of ranges are fairly barren, making the pop ups easy to see- I spent a couple of decades in the Army- believe me, I'm no shot, but once, on a Ft. Campbell range I was scored an "expert" based upon the above criteria...I was a CW2 running a motor pool and my "spotter" was one of my mechanics who was cheesing up for a pass...

The coverage I saw, earlier in the evening on Fox, Brit Hume, Shepard Smith, and particularly Fred Barnes, was very clear in pointing out Johnny’s association with Islam.

Ditto. Although Mort and the other lady laughed at Fred when he called Mohammed a "Muslim terrorist." I wanted to dope-slap them.

If he has any real connections to Islamic terrorism, that will eventually come out.

Don't bet on it. Don't bet that he'll see the inside of a courtroom. Don't bet that the illegal won't be sent back to his mammy in Jamaica

Men named in sniper probe reportedly sympathetic to terrorists (Provided Security For "Million Man M AP | 10/24/02

SEATTLE (AP) -- Investigators are combing through the lives of two men named in connection with the Washington, D.C.-area sniper investigation, searching for clues to what may have motivated a killing spree.

v John Allen Muhammad, 42, one of the men, is a Muslim convert said to be sympathetic to the Sept. 11 hijackers, according to published reports. Muhammad, formerly a soldier at Fort Lewis, and John Lee Malvo, 17, a Jamaican citizen who attended school in Bellingham, may have been motivated by anti-American sentiments, The Seattle Times reported Thursday, quoting unidentified federal officials.

The officials said both were known to have expressed sympathy toward the hijackers, but neither was believed to be associated with the al-Qaida terrorist network.

Malvo is believed to be the stepson of Muhammad, who converted to Islam many years ago and changed his name last year from John Allen Williams, investigators told the Times.

Montgomery County, Md., Police Chief Charles Moose, who is leading the sniper investigation, said Wednesday that Muhammad was being sought for questioning and called him "armed and dangerous."

Two men were arrested early Thursday after they were found sleeping in their car at a Maryland rest stop, authorities said. Police did not release the names of the two, but a law enforcement source close to the investigation told The Associated Press: "I'm confident that these are indeed the people" sought in the killings.

On Wednesday, federal agents tore up the back yard at the house in Tacoma where Muhammad once lived. Investigators also combed through Malvo's Bellingham High School student records, reportedly seeking samples of his handwriting.

Muhammad, who was stationed at Fort Lewis in the 1980s and served in the Gulf War, had four children by two marriages that ended in divorce. Both involved bitter custody battles and at least one accusation that he abducted the children.

Muhammad was outgoing and "had a good sense of humor. He wasn't a quiet type. He liked to talk. He liked to mingle with people," said Carol Williams, his first wife and mother of his oldest son. Court records showed no felony record for him in Washington state.

She said Muhammad converted to Islam after divorcing her 17 years ago, about the time he joined the Army.

"After he changed his religion, he called and told me what not to feed my child," she said. "I told him as long as he (their son) lived with me, it was up to me."

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that Muhammad and Malvo stayed at Lighthouse Mission, a Christian homeless shelter in Bellingham. Bellingham Mayor Robert Asmundson said the teen had minor run-ins with police but never was charged with a crime.

Carol Williams said that on one occasion, when their son was in middle school and visited Muhammad in Tacoma, she had to fight a legal battle to gain the boy's return.

Muhammad's second wife was Mildred Green, with whom he had three children. Williams said Green called her a couple of years ago after their divorce to tell her that Muhammad had abducted their children and to ask for help in getting them back.

Elaina Whitlock, 38, who lived near the family for six years in Tacoma, said that after the divorce, Muhammad was granted weekend visitations but at one point left with the three children.

"Things were going OK with visitations and no one suspected he would take off with them, but then he couldn't have her and he knew it would hurt her if he took the children," said Whitlock. "Her life was her children."

Green was reunited with the children about 1½ years ago, Whitlock said.

Leo Dudley, a former Marine who lived a block from Muhammad, said Muhammad helped provide security for Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan's "Million Man March" in Washington, D.C.

Muhammad was in excellent shape and knew karate, Dudley sai

d. "Any time he shook your hand, he would crush it," said Dudley. "He was just country. He was from down South, and the military brought him up here."

I love FNC, but I am sick of their TOTAL DEVOTION to the sniper story. There's more news out there to cover. I'd like to hear about the 3 Americans held hostage in Moscow. I had to turn on nbc to hear any news about it.
Are you listening FOX???????????????

Watched last night's BBC News World Report (whatever it's called, airs on PBS). Was pleased to see that their report on the sniper was very upfront with his conversion to Islam, participat ion in the Million Man March, etc.. Seems though, that the regular network news are deliberately withholding that little bit of information or wait til the very end to briefly mention it.
