[history]
The last cryptic message from Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose to the Washington-area sniper referred to a Cherokee Indian story about an arrogant rabbit that was duped by the duck he tried to catch.
"You have indicated that you want us to do and say certain things. You've asked us to say, 'We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose.' We understand that hearing us say this is important to you," Moose said late Wednesday at a televised news briefing, called so authorities could release information on two people sought for questioning in the 13 sniper shootings.

Lots of FReepers emailed FOX last night about this reference, that is how they figured it out. Saw it happening real time. That commie Ron Kuby had the chutzpah to take credit for coming up with the story himself this morning on WABC radio (New York).
Claims he remembers it from his peyote-ingesting days with Indians while at the U. of Kansas!
Yeah, right, Kuby. We know you read it here on FreeRepublic. Last night.

Hard to say at this point if we have all of the participants or if we will encounter copycats (possibly even with more written messages by the same author, designed for later incidents).
Once the sniper is in custody, it does not make any sense to bow to his demands.

A local conservative talk show host sugguested that the message might be a code to other "sleeper cells" in the Nation with instructions.

In the ancient story, passed down through generations of Cherokee Indians, a rabbit brags that he can catch a duck. He throws a noose over the neck of a duck, but it flies away with the rabbit hanging on. Eventually the rabbit must let go, landing in a hollow tree stump. The conceited animal has to eat his own fur for food and is embarrassed by his appearance when he finally escapes. "His boastfulness got him in trouble and eventually destroyed him," said Tera Shows, spokeswoman for the Cherokee Nation, based in Tahlequah, Okla.
So......is the US the 'boastful rabbit' who thinks it's ended the terror and will now soon see its boastfulness come back to bite it?
I wonder...........

That's right, and I take full credit for being the FIRST to put it on. FOX - e-mail me if you want to give me a job in your legal department. I will require serious coin.

Another Freeper I am no longer sure who pointed out that
Like
A Duck
In
A Noose makes a phonetic spelling of a certain international figure's name. Coincidence????

You are exactly right. There is something odd about this. When Chief Moose issued this statement, they already KNEW who the suspects were and had put out an APB on them. Why broadcast this? They KNEW they were running?
And why do out of his way to say that the "suspects" were "persons of interest" who were NOT considered to be the snipers---I HEARD this!

i think Government Shrinker has the best explanation so far for this obscure message being released... the release of the message was certainly approved from on high...
but how could anyone in their right minds be that certain that this off-the-wall statement was not code for his compadres, as oppossed to merely assuaging some muddlebrained psycho with a rifle?
they had to know they were looking for a black muslim with an agenda... and they knew the connections he had with others in washington and alabama... so far as to send a group to gitmo for further corroboration.
perhaps a touch more than coincidence?
what good was planned to come from the release of this message? it would be very foolish to underestimate the enemy, if indeed the evil extends beyond these two islamic murderers in this case. why risk it?
somethin ain't right here.

The conceited animal has to eat his own fur for food and is embarrassed by his appearance when he finally escapes. And who among us didn't know about this?

check out the link regarding the "persons of interest" in #88.

Finally he hears voices and calls out to the people to cut open the stump so they can see how beautiful he is. When they do, he escapes.

To: Brad's Gramma
OMG...they cut open the stump and found the evidence which may connect and help convict him... the .223 slugs.
incidentally, according to brit hume on foxnews, the AP retracted the story that said the rifle in his trunk matches the ballistics of the slugs removed from the victims.
To: Tired of Taxes
It is kind of interesting BUT just another "coinky dink" I am sure....

LOL!!!! Yes the good old days of FR when you could put in pesky music...remember those OLD threads!!! People went NUTS when the music started! LOL

I'm not sure the Moose Message was from, or to, the Sniper. It seems like Moose is confirming a "tip" and reasurring the tipster they are acting on it.
What was the Big Tip? How did the authorites know to specifically look for -these- two guys?
Something is missing from the story IMHO.

I agree it is fishy, but the article is a series of "six degrees of separation"-type of relationships. There is, to this point, no linkage of Muhammad to this camp. I wish there were an Al-Quaeda connection, but so far, it doesn't seem so. But, there are still plenty of loose ends.

I read it, but maybe I'm dense. I still don't see the motivation of the police to release this wording at that time.

No kidding....back in the old days of FR...people would insert background music to a post and DRIVE the thread crazy...of course back then a 1000 post thread was on ONE page...not broken up in 100 post segments like today...so every time you would refresh the damn music would start...was known to send some posters over the edge! LOL the good old days when "closed" tags would terrorism a whole thread with bizarre formatting...LOL seems so long ago....
