Let's keep a live commentary thread going again today. The FBI Tip Line #1-888-324-9800.
All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Well as a admirer of literary efforts (although greatly preferring nonfiction) I'd sure to to see that.

I heard that too. "People make deals all the time."
Obviously a candidate for the Neville Chamberlain division of law enforcement.

He could fire a shot at a gas pump at a busy gas station rather than a single human being and create the need for 20 body bags maybe? Or maybe I've been wating too many movies...
Please do not give him/them any ideas. They may lurk here at FR on their down time.

Thanks, Brigette. I really think we (the media, not FReepers) ought to get the RESPECT out of our voices when discussing this guy. He is an idiot killer, nothing more. So he watches CSI and has learned how not to leave many clues. So he knows the roads. So does every taxi driver. He is no special genius, just an amoral SOB who enjoys ruining the lives of millions of law-abiding citizens and doesn't care who has to die in order to achieve that chaos.

I favor bags of pennies dropped on his naked skull from 90 stories. Would that satisfy the apppeasers as to paying him off?

Glenspending and KKT must be afraid of a depressed voting turnout in Montgomery Co.
To: Peach
Once again for the hearing and otherwise existentially challenged- THIS IS MIDEASTERN TERRORISM- the recent news about children at risk and especially BODY BAGS are totally consistent with this theory. Further body bags is a term the regimes in the ME love to use as a reminder of our Vietnam experience. This is a term of WAR, not psychosis. As to the $ issue, a diversion, althougth we all know that they may be running low on cash and need adequate funding ( ask the UN about that when it comes to Palestinian terror).
By the way, the media are giving this all the exposure of an Al Queda Cell at work. My bet is that these are some buddies of the earlier bombers of the TTT. After all, was there not alot of target practise arond Lakawanaand was not George Tennet very nervous lately.
Think for yourselves as the Government and local enforcement have no current interest in fessing up to it directly.

What new and disturbing manifestation is this? What about the suicide bombings in Israel? Those are/were killings, not for killing sake, but for the bigger objective. In the case if Israel, it is to run Jews out of "Palestine". Not just because those Palestinians are serial killers that love to kill for the jollies of killing. Killing for the sake of obtaining an objective is nothing new. It has occurred as long as man has existed. And, as to your number 2, the terrorists don't need to be taking notes, this has been their business forever. They wrote this book! They don't kill because they get jollies from killing, they kill because that is the best way to obtain their objective. People respond to killing more than they do anything else. If money is this guys objective, do you think the LEAs and public would be listening to him if he was simply shooting out windows with a bbgun, or egging cars, or breaking car windows with a hammer, or TPing houses? From my LE days, I remember "gang" interdiction training seminars that I attended wherein discussion was presented that killing by gangs is not done for the sake of killing, for the jollies of killing, but for business. For control. For terror. For territory. No know profiling manuals are needed from this ordeal. This is nothing new.

You don't need to go to FNC for Moose slamming. It's alive and well right here on FR.

I don't know who the guy on FNC is -- don't have cable even at home, still less at work.
But I heard Bill Press say much the same thing on WMAL this morning.
To: BuckeyeForever
Buckeye, you are right on. I am on the other side of the country from these happenings, but even if I lived in Montgomery County, I would risk it. Have Chief Moose come out and announce to the guy "Stop jerking us around. We will not pay you blood money for killing our citizens. Stop the killing NOW and turn yourself in or you will be VERY SORRY." His rage may really throw him into a fit, and he will try to take revenge, but with the manpower out there, and the spy planes and everything, he will slip up and they will get him.
Re the bank transfer: in this country, there is NO BANK SECRECY at all. The cops would be able to get a warrant or whatever and whoever tried to pick up or re-transfer that money would be caught. The banks answer to LE in America. So he really must be stupid if he thinks he'd ever see that money.

The dems used the body bags line pre Desert Storm also, so
that's proof he is a dem </sarcasm>
To: Yaelle
He asked for a DOMESTIC bank transfer. What is the source of this information? All I've read is that he asked for a transfer, nothing specifically about it being a domestic or foreign bank.
To: wewillnotfail
Did anybody catch that? Wewillnotfail has just admitted his dog is the sniper! Now it all makes sense to me. The message from the sniper "I am God" is actually a clever way of telling us "I am Dog." And there's more. Dogs eat dog chow, which, not coincidentally, is sold at a pet store, which happens to be NEXT TO the Michael's store involved in one of the shootings. And as we all know, dogs like to pee on fire hydrants. I have it on good authority that there is a fire hydrant within a few hundred yards of the Home Depot involved in another shooting. This is too bizarre. I read recently that the MEs are going to arrest all their dogs. Wewillnotfail's dog is probably outraged by this, and is making a political statement to that effect by taking out his rage on everyone on the East Coast. Alert Chief Moose. We have a perp and his name is Fido.
(I agree with you, wewillnotfail, and I hope you understand my dig is aimed at those who are trying a little too hard to tie this jackass sniper into some ME connection without any basis for doing so.)

Paris Glendenning on now saying that the Maryland National Guard may be called in to guard voters on elections day.
Has anyone who lives in the area heard anything about canceling Halloween? I shudder to think how many kids he/they could take out under cover of darkness. For several years now, I have felt Halloween is an inappropriate function. Back in the 50s and 60s the streets were safe. They are no longer.
To: Snerfling
1st and foremost, if it is a domestic whack-job, it's a new and disturbing manifestation of a serial killer. I believe is a domestic whack-job. In addition to his nuttiness apparent now, and his request of a DOMESTIC money transfer, he used some expressions that were quite American in his hostile phone conversations.
So they can put a new chapter into the serial killer books.
However, I agree totally with what you said. AQ and all other METs are rubbing their hands gleefully with the success of this tactic. For a while they may have been wishing this was one of theirs. I would not be surprised if they use this tactic on us in the near future, since this loony tested it out so successfully for them, it is as though he read their manuals.

This SOB is so stupid it seems with his ontact that he probably asked them to transfer the funds into his PayPal account, they cannot do it because PayPal has limits on the amount a person can transfer to another person. LOL... ;-)
To: Yaelle
Here's a limb, yet I go out on it. This whole money transfer stuff is yet another little dig by Saddam -- as to how he was sometimes paid off by us.

As to the $ issue, a diversion, althougth we all know that they may be running low on cash and need adequate funding Abu Sayef uses the ransom tactic to raise money for al qaeda in the Phillipines. Sayef demanded $3 million for the release of the Burnhams. In Karachi, al qaeda demanded ransom for the release of Daniel Pearl.
