A one line mention in Monday's Washington Post has led to an inquiry from C-SPAN about their covering this Saturday's Patriots Rally for America at the Washington Monument, at the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
They plan on covering the so-called anti-war rally being held the same day in D.C. and wish to cover our rally as balance.
Also, C-SPAN will be having a roundtable discussion on the Iraq situation and asked us to suggest some college student leaders to participate in a Washington Journal segment for Saturday.
I'll be calling C-SPAN Thursday with our schedule for the rally and I suppose they'll decide then whether they'll cover it. They definitely seem interested, though.
Our speaker line-up is taking shape, we should be ready to announce at least a partial one tomorrow night. Just like last April's Patriots Rally, it's coming together the week of the event.
As for financing, we're about halfway to meeting the budget of $4,000 for the stage, sound, porta-pottys and incidentals. Members of the D.C. Chapter are financing the Patriots Rally, but we could use some help.

If you would like to publicize the Patriots Rally, you can download this flyer created by rabidralph which features Registered's rally logo and distribute copies in your area.
The D.C. Chapter was planning for the Patriots Rally to be a local pro-America, support our troops and anti-Saddam Hussein gathering to counter the national so-called anti-war rally being held by the usual collection of America-hating communists, leftists and anarchists.
We've made contacts with local College Republican groups at some of the local campuses and they are helping to get the word out.
We're not going to come anywhere near the numbers of the leftists, but we'll have a decent crowd. We'd love to have you come out and stand up for America with us.
Please bring American and Gadsden flags, signs supporting America and our troops and as many friends and family members as you can.
The weather forecast is for mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the 50s to low 60s.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
When: Saturday, October 26, 2002 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.
Where: The Washington Monument at the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.
Looking forward to Saturday, my FRiend.

She was great! Sean explained it was FReepers who protested " Get out of Cheney's house!" during the 2000 elections! He then let her give the details of Saturday's rally.
I remember that well - Takoma's daughter has attended many of DC events - very mature and well spoken - helps out with anything that needs to be done.
