"...and pubs are masters at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory..."

If Republicans do wrest back Senate control, let's just pray that there are no more Souter nominations. Every last one of them should be diehard conservatives confirmed on a rocket docket. That was one of the 3 top unforgivable sins of Bush the Elder --leaving Saddam in place and blatantly breaking his tax pledge being the other two.

...until recently he barely mentioned Wellstone breaking his pledges to only serve two terms and refusal to ever take PAC money...

In the past week, Coleman's mailings at least seem to be targeting some of these issues. One flyer shows a list of his 1990 promises compared to his actual performance in each area. Effective.

Last night Mr. Otta B got a call from some special interest group "reminding" him to vote for Wellstone (we've never figured out how he got on the DFL's mailing list). It was with great personal satisfaction that he informed the caller he would never vote for that liar and cheat.

And the specter of that has the dems ready to pull every sneaky, dirty, filthy, vile, underhanded, low-down-dirty-trick in the book to make sure that doesn't happen.

Thank you for the personal endorsement of Gizzi's prognostications. He writes like he knows what he is doing, but a lot of people do that without knowing their *ss from their elbow.

I agree with his analysis. In November, 2001, I went on record on FreeRepublic with the prediction of the Republicans gaining 1-3 seats in the Senate, and 5-7 seats in the House. I repeated that prediction in print in the current issue of the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries (second link below, warning: highly statistical).

I stand by that now, which is in line with Gizzi's work.

Allard is lucky that Governor Owens is on the ballot.
That should be the difference in a very close election.
The popularity of Owens at the top of the ticket, pulls
Allard over the finish line, winning the US Senate for
the Grand Old Party.

REPUBLICANS COULD INCREASE TURNOUT BY JUST 5% THIS YEAR, IT WOULD BE A LANDSLIDE

We've got the Libertarians to thank for that missing five percent. A Libertarian vote is a Democrat vote. It's that simple.

I disagree. He marks Texas as Safe Republican, and I'm betting you will see a major sub-story on election night. I don't think he'll get 40%, and I'm betting the Libs actually make some headlines at his expense.

Don't sweat Texas. Its a statewide Pubbie sweep except for possibly the lite guv. race. The State House will go GOP for the first time and the Senate will greatly improve its GOP majority.
