Sources: Note contained timeline for more attacks
Meanwhile, law enforcement sources said a hand-written note found near the scene of Saturday's sniper shooting in Virginia "hinted at a demand for money" and threatened "more killing." One official said it contained a timeline for authorities to act, and if they failed, then there would be more attacks.
CNN initially withheld that information at the request of law enforcement officials, who feared that releasing it could jeopardize the investigation and put the community at risk. However, after several other news organizations reported the information, the officials said they had no objection to CNN reporting it.
The note is undergoing analysis at an FBI lab for DNA, handwriting and other details that might help determine who wrote it. Sources said authorities were working under the assumption that it is from the sniper.
Investigators believe the sniper called authorities Monday morning using a voice-disguising device, a source close to the investigation told CNN.
It was that phone call, this source said, that prompted Moose to urge the possible sniper to "call us back."
Attorney General John Ashcroft said Tuesday he did not foresee the FBI taking over the sniper investigation, but he did not rule out the possibility.

I just updated my will Well, I sure hope you're leaving something to your fellow Supremes. The girls really got a raw deal, didn't they?

We've all got accents. People in different parts of the country pronounce words differently. What purpose does it serve to criticize him on this level?
To: marajade
Oh, I was assuming you were based on your posts. Sorry.

Most investigations begin with the obvious. Then, they continue to the not so obvious. Regardless, do you want foreing nationals running around America, potentially operating for our enemies, without doing something about it?
I'll await your response (with baited breath).

Irrelevent. 99%+ don't go to a jury, 90%+ probably not even to trial. Nothing that isn't a slam dunk ever goes to trial. Like I said, if the perp is not a parolee that can be leaned on to plead out, there will be no solved case.
What is relevent is that the solution rate for property crime is piss-poor, and the reporting rate is low because citizens have no confidence, and no reason to have confidence, in the police. Even the murder solution in some big cities is frighteningly low.
The ineffectiveness of police is undermining society. I am FOR capital punishment on principle, but look at what happened in Illinois. The governor simply could not be confident he was not signing the death warrant of the wrong guy. This sniper is just another example of how the police are letting everyone down.

It's the St. Cyr French Lieutenant. I am certain of it. (for many reasons - and I want his picture published NOW)
It's both terrorism AND a lone nut job.

Where is the "spy" plane? Is it patrolling? I thought it was supposed to detect muzzle flash and then we could nail this scum. The spy plane? What spy plane? And so what? Everyone here in Sniperville knew the purpose of giving this information to the media was to calm the masses -- nothing more.

Well, I keep going back and forth on whether I think this is a domestic nut job or a new twist on muslim terrorist tactics...but I wonder if there is any connection to this:
Agencies: Terrorists Could Strike U.S. Again Soon
With so little info coming out, the phrasing yesterday that we are heading into a dangerous time and then this direct quote that children are not safe anywhere anytime...it seems like there has got to be so much going on behind the scenes with the LE - the supposedly bad grammar and supposed accent it makes you wonder if it could be the islamists playing a big funny (not ha ha) game.....I just can't imagine that a lone nut job would go to such extremes at this point.....what is the point of a ransom? That just seems like a diversion tactic or way to just whip the LE into a frenzy.....
I do feel that if it does turn out to be Al-Q and the public finds out...all hell is going to break loose and it would not be a good time to be a muslim in America... I think the American people will have had enough......

Diana Rose..not Ross Well, us insiders know that's the nome de plume Diana uses when she travels incognito and checks into hotels, for example.

They need to allow CCW and have citizen patrols. It would be messy if they found him, but it would show that we are willing to put our foot down. Texas bump to that.
To: Freeper 007
I beleive the reason they cant see anyone with a rifle is because this guy is using a breakdown rifle either one with a folding stock or a 3 part breifcase rifle all he would need is a backpack or a paper sack either one would work equally as well
What we need is trained personel in camo to fit the scenery and with night vision placed all over And i mean ALL OVER THE PLACE all woods and vacant buildings i think it would prove to be more usful than this cat and mouse game their playing with this murderer

"YOUR children are not safe anywhere at anytime..."
Anyone else question the use of "YOUR" children??? If an American were to make this statement we wouldn't use YOUR... we would just say "Children are not safe anywhere...
