Well I think everyone here shares the same opinion about the media. After all they leaked confidential information in direct defiance to LE. They aren't on the "right" side.

What you said reminded me of an article about how to rattle a narcissist in court. They cannot tolerate any criticism whatsoever. They tend to fly into a rage. Unfortunately I can see an eminent psychiatrist trying to pull this off while being interviewed by Katie Couric or Whorealdo :/

Think about it. Who, besides a taxi driver, knows the roads like the back of his hand?

A Policeman or maybe an ex-policeman, who also knows police procedure, as well as the area.

He may also me familiar with Ransom demand procedure.

He may now live in another county or state, but used to work in the Maryland area.

I agree with you that it is someone who knows the area real well. But lets expand on your idea to include the others that may know the area as well.

Likewise with any AQ connection. When someone attempts to "blame" this on AQ, they're actually *crediting* AQ with this. If AQ is not connected to this in any way, then all that's done is increase the apparently commonly-held belief that AQ is a superhuman organization that can strike at will. I'm sure AQ would love to be "blamed" for everything that goes wrong in the US.

If he just wants money, this seems to be overkill. Why, if all he wants is money, would he kill 10 or 11 people? Why would he get it so that he faces these huge police dragnets? The guy is obviously a smart criminal. Why did he put his work into finding places to shoot from, eluding cops, etc. when he could have put his work into robbing a bank, a jewelry store, or a liquor store? He wouldn't necessarily face mulitiple murder charges, he wouldn't be public enemy #1, etc. This doens't seem to make sense to me. This story has just gotten even more surreal in the last couple of days to me.

Heck if I could disable his rig with a Honda civic and he ran away the mere information in the vehicle would more than pay for itself IMO. A sidearm against a rifle at 7 meters ( car lenght +/- a few) is more than doable for the pistoleer/ martial artist should the killer want to try a toe to toe vs flee. But you and other professionals here know such of course.

Stay Safe !

It also contained threats against children ....

I felt so bad when I heard about the bus driver. Then I felt great anger tward the jerk who shot him. GRRRRRR.
CNN reports there's also a threat for children, too, that was written in the shooters Ponderosa letter. I really, really hope this was not target practice for kids getting on a school bus.

The traffic tie-up was blamed for the failure of congressional lawmakers to make it to Andrews Air Force Base for a scheduled trip with President Bush aboard Air Force One. Several House and Senate lawmakers were expected to take a ride with the president as he visited Pennsylvania and Maine on Tuesday, but only Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., caught the flight.

Great! now that Moron RINA has Bush all to himself! I wonder what commie law he will try to drag Bush into Supporting

"The economy is their first and foremost concern, and if the truth has to be sacrified in the process, so be it."

I hear you about the economy, and thats one of the main reasons why I believe it is terroism. What is the best way to defeat an army? Destroy his ability to make war machines. What does it take to make war? Money. Money is why we are the only superpower left. Heck we won the cold war by bankrupting the Soviet Union.

Anyway, I truley believe our achelies heel is our economy. Destroy that, and you've done a good job of destroying America. Now if I can think this up, I'm sure these Muslim wacos have figured that out a long time ago. If not, they sure know it after 9/11. Three planes, 3,000 people, and they both aren't anything compared to the havoc it reaked on our economy. Sad, but true.

Speaking of the cemetary....I was listening to the coverage this AM and they said that the name of the cemetary was "Heaven's Gate Cemetary". Could this be significant to the first known message sent by the sniper saying that he was "god"? It just stood out in my own mind while listening here at home.

I believe s/he is playing the noooooze presstitutes, polidiots and police against each other with disinformational induced panic for the sheeple s/he seeks to use for whatever end.

Agree the money issue doesn't make any sense at all . But then neither do the targets s/he selects. I'm still leaning towards a "smart" islamikazi sort here. CONUS Terrorism for the long haul IMO.

Stay Safe !

Second verse, same as the first:

The police are outnumbered. They MIGHT be able to stop this, but there are more citizens than cops. It's up to us.

I looked at the interactive map at a news site. The first series of shootings appeared to be on main streets off a freeway. My Rand McNally USA Atlas shows many of the smaller roads around Ashland (i.e., other than Hwy 1 and I95).

At the time of the first series of shootings, the police hadn't apparently connected the dots, so he probably wouldn't need elaborate plans to get away.

The getaways for the other shootings could have been planned a day or two ahead. I'm sure if he drove around, say, the 7 corners area long enough he could have seen the locals taking their shortcuts.

So, I don't think he really needs to know the area as well as a cab or delivery driver. BTW, both occupations make use of detailed local maps, no one is familiar with all the streets in a large metro area.

>>...Too bad we can't start posting national guards at selected posts throughout the area where this guy has been and take him out...<<

I was thinking the same thing. Post troops at all the parks in the area.

But then, this might drive the guy/guys underground and when the troops were pulled he'd start over.

Does anybody else find it a little strange to have such a kill ration with a .223 fired from any type of weapon? Why are they sure it is a .223 except for the casings that may be a hoax. Wouldn't a 22-250 or a .220 Swift use the same slug with much greater potency?

I've been thinking the same thing. I've shot several deer (and hundreds of prairie rats) with .223's and this kind of lethality just isn't there, regardless of bullet type. This monster could have easily picked up so empty .223 brass at a shooting range and dropped it at the scenes (before the shootings) to through off the investigators.
