Yes. Southern area Virginia state schools Richmond area decided at 4 p.m. local time yesterday that they would be open. However, by 7 p.m. they were approached and given 'additional information' namely what was in the threat letter at the Ponderosa site. That threat contained a threat towards schools in Virginia (the children), and then at 7 p.m. the school officials decided to NOT have school open.

I was passing by CNN and saw the hospital spokeswoman say she had made a "misstatement" and for the press not to use it on the air -- what was that all about?Probably about announcing the vic's death prematurely; but with the three networks in breaking news-wall to wall mode, those mistakes and miscues will happen.

I'm headed off to Pilates class, but I suspect when I return in an hour, this thread will be over 1200 posts. Take good notes during the news briefing!

"Al Queda Kicking the door in and shooting everybody"....
Heck, they could just walk in my house. My husband gets up early every morning and opens all the windows and leaves the front door wide open! The kids and I don't like it.
On daughter (14) is constantly locking all our doors! He feels it's very safe here (and usually it is) but there have been one or two home invasions in the last 2 years.
Police substation just moved in and they are at the end of my block,1/10 of a mile away. Hopefully, they'd get here fast.:)

~~~The note found at the Ponderosa threatened children (per CNN)!! ~~~
I'm not believing this until I hear it from LEO. Fox News is reporting the same...and I know it is a logical conclusion. But too many points made by the newsies have been discounted over time. Call me skeptical.
A gent I work with told me this morning that the annual rifle marksmanship (read: sniper) competition at Camp Lejeune has been cancelled this year because of all this.
Vigilante action against Middle Easterners can be forestalled by a program of internment and deportation.
Speculation is that the hospital jumped the gun announcing the victim's death, at least as far as family notification is concerned. Fred Mertz suggested notification was the issue back on post 772. It appears that most major web news sites are calling it a fatal shooting, CNN included. Sounds like we'll hear for sure on way or the other at the noon press conference.
You are looking impotent.
Well stated post. Personally, I haven't come to any conclusion on the competency in this investigation. The line above made me laugh because it's a part of a malaprop joke where the old guy gets news of being impotent and he then dresses up like he's really something... "If I'm impotent, I'm gonna dress Impotent!" Maybe ya had to be there, but I got a chuckle out of it. Freeregards.
Thanks for the clarification. I know DOJ is looking into it, but didn't think Ashcroft had announced it was definite to re-open OKC case. Thanks.
Maybe you can just create a 'throw away' e mail account on hot mail or earthlink somewhere, and then register, so you can do the Yahoo mirror site, and then not worry about being spammed. Interesting idea. I'm not particularly computer savvy and hadn't thought of that.
Isn't the Marine Corps Marathon this weekend? I wonder if it's going to be canceled.
Prayers for your family, valleygal. I know you must be terribly worried for them. Stay well so you can be there for them.
>>Vigilante action against Middle Easterners can be forestalled by a program of internment and deportation<<
But the reason for internment and deportation is not to prevent vigilantism, but rather to protect the nation.
It is inconceiveable that it has not been done.
One of my favoite jokes, that and the one where his girlfriend went to the ball game to see him play and the pitcher walked him and someone said he was taking first base because he had 4 balls, and she started yelling, "don't walk, strut proudly".
"Stop the pleading. Stop the crying....You are looking impotent (and) totally out of control."
I absolutely agree, yukong. BTW, another press conference, for those who can stomach it, coming up.
