Well, kissing PC goodbye wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. I think at this point, LE is damn if they do, damned if they don't.
To: Quilla
Exactly....the shooter has to eat, buy groceries, gas, etc...someone would have seen him.

I have one relative, with a family of 5, living in DC area, plus have 4 single friends who are scattered out in that general area. They say it helps when the news casters tell them the age, sex, of the victim. That way they can prioritize their phone calls. Got to have some tea. brb.

There is a Home Depot but it is beyond the K-Mart across a major road (Georgia Ave.) right behind the old Vitro building on the corner of Connecticut and Georgia Aves.

almost TWO WEEKS ago Chief Moose had a slip of the tongue and said they were afraid of releasing anymore information 'that might tend to paint a whole group...and cause problems for THEM' (paraphrase).I heard that too. First thought here was he was taking about MEs, otherwise why say it?

Don't see this guy shooting at a cop. As of now, where there is one cop, there will be 2-3. cops are too trained to look for evidence. To look to return fire with fire. For this shooter to go after cops would be out of pattern. Just too many chances. IF any pattern has developed here, it is that this guy is patient, calculated, and only shoots when there is a very reasonable degree of escape. Shooting at cops is just too risky. And throw in the fact that most cops wear body armor, then a shot at a cop may not be successful. This guy targets the general populace and that will continue.

A brilliant catch, AiT! That 'slip' by Moose may have pretty much confirmed a PC protection plan.
'Paint a whole GROUP and cause problems for THEM'
Wow. Can you find the exact quote?
To: mhking
if that is true, and comes out, I think you can kiss "political correctness" in this country goodbye this is correct. wonder what the election strategists have in store for us?

When people think of "French person", they are stuck in the 50s and 60s mindset and think of white guys in striped red/white tight shirts, with a beret and a pencil moustache.
Fact is, "French person" now adays could just as well be a Morrocan or Yemen born Islamic, or a coal-black Nigerian. Interesting thought, that if there was a French professional sniper loose there in the states who had the necessary training, and yet ethnically was Arabic and strongly militant Islamic, part of an intimidation operation. I don't know. Going to the French language web press now to investigate that theoretical angle!

I'm pretty sure this is not connected to the release of the Gitmo folks. Way back in the summer, representatives of certain countries went to the base to interview various people we had decided were not of interest to us and could be returned to their countries or some other country willing to take them. I think even France had somebody they wanted released.
The Pakistanis had a little list, if I recall, but I don't think we released all of the ones they wanted, only the ones who we had determined were just there getting free meals and hospitality services...
Maybe we wanted to make room for new "guests"?

If the LE involved in the sniper investigation have reason to believe that the sniper is a Middle Easterner, I can not imagine why they would choose to hide such information. If LE has some idea of what the perp looks like, white, black, or indiferent, it would seem to me to be in their favor to inform the public. The article on the French defector states outright that US police HAVE a sketch of the sniper. That is the first time such news has been reported.

Correct. They would never say they don't want to theorize it is a 'white guy' for fear of tainting the whole white community.
Further, since every major race of person was shot, except Asian, their logic would say this person or persons must be Asian. But why no talk that he is Asian? Something is being covered up and the police are racing against the clock now, and are placed equadistant to the shooter and a growing irate populace that may demand payback and take matters into their own hands.
To: RandallFlagg
Why does everyone assume the guy gets away in a car or truck? He could have a pistol with a scope, take a shot, conceal the weapon in his pants, and slowly stroll away.

I've been looking for Moose's quote since he said it with no luck. A in T gets the jest of it.

Re my #490. I didn't mean the detainees were released in the summer, but just that these plans have been in the works since then.
They were to be released this fall, which is what I think is happening now.

Correction. There is another way of looking at it (on my previous post).
White-Black-Asian-Native American-Hispanic. All the races of people shot. (if you take "India" as "Asian" and in fact it is S. Asian).
The only major regional race/area of victim not represented is......Middle Eastern.
Hmmmmm.....

The article on the French defector states outright that US police HAVE a sketch of the sniper. If this is true, then it is a remarkable lapse of logic on the part of LEOs.
