When people think of "French person", they are stuck in the 50s and 60s mindset and think of white guys in striped red/white tight shirts, with a beret and a pencil moustache.

Fact is, "French person" now adays could just as well be a Morrocan or Yemen born Islamic, or a coal-black Nigerian. Interesting thought, that if there was a French professional sniper loose there in the states who had the necessary training, and yet ethnically was Arabic and strongly militant Islamic, part of an intimidation operation. I don't know. Going to the French language web press now to investigate that theoretical angle!

Agreed. This doesn't narrow it down as much as people would like. Remember Zacharias Mossoui was French...

Well, in this case we know more than French nationality about the guy, if the reports are true that he comes originally from Yugoslavia.
