how hard is it to write in broken English ? I could probably fake up a decent "semi-literate" letter, but I wonder if there are little clues that would trip up someone who is only "pretending"...

Got that right about commute, 6:00 a.m. is already packed in D.C. area traffic.

Good points. Rush hour where I'm at doesn't begin until 7am. Gotta keep in mind that DC is way different.

Bless your heart. My friend called and woke me up this morning with this grim news. Just crying her heart out, as until time passes, noone knows who's family member, friend, was hurt/killed, and there is a frantic calling around to see if everyone is safe. The relief is unbelievable when they all turn up, alive and well, then the grief sets in for the family and the person who WAS hurt. Oh it's just gross.

Then the paramedics took time to stabilize him at the scene, start IV's and do whatever they do (I'll have to e-mail my #3 sis to find out--she was a paramedic. And my #5 sister--she's an RN). But the medical folks on FR may be able to tell us what medical personnel would do before they transported him.

All I know is that he has my prayers, as well as the other victims.

And if your intent is to disrupt rush-hour and by extension commerce in the area then 5:30 AM is a perfect time to do a shooting with the types of road blocks they are setting up. I saw on Fox this morning that they are asking commuters to delay their morning trip.

That is true, too. You cannot rule it out.

In fact, I am able to impersonate several different dialects in choppy English, and I can also pickup generally where an Asian is from by the character of their English prononciation; I know others who are very skilled at that.

In fact, that adds to my theory of the anthrax murderer a year ago....and the theory I believe is subscribed to by the FBI, and that is a domestic American actually faked the letters to make it look like an Arab had written them. When I read his English (the antrax guy) that was my immediate impression. A poor effort to 'foreignize' his English.

Indeed, he could easily fake broken english to throw everyone "off guard" or he could be the guy from france. We can't even judge whether it's real broken english or not. There is little we can speculate about...other than what we know for sure. Very frustrating!

I think you are right...that he lives or has one of his helpers living right in that vicinity. Bowie, Fredericksburg, Ashland are right on major access routes.

In America, we "scoop and swoop." :) Grab them up and bone out to the hospital, hopefully a trauma 1 center. I feel like the newscaster probably misspoke himself, don't you?

I don't believe for a second that the shooter fired off more than one shot. From what I can see on tv reports, there is a wooded area just to the right of the buses. Most likely, the sounds were reverberations, echos from the shots. Not uncommon. If there was more than one shot, then there would be evidence of that in the bus.

True, but right across from a cemetery early in the morning (or probably most other times!) is not a promising location. That's why I think he had checked it out earlier.

I can appreciate that - we used to live in Silver Spring, and we still have family and friends there.

Everyone is safe, as far as we know, and all we can do is to leave it in God's hands and go from there. Otherwise, we'd all be going nuts.

Am I seeing on CNN next to the crime scene that there is a large Post Office depot and a Home Depot right near the shooting spot?

I'm calling the behaviours NAMES -- if in some cases it seems otherwise, I apologize for lack of clear statement. I love everyone, and miss them when away from FR even if it sometimes seems I am short with and hard on a poster.
