It is my OPINION that this letter is NOT from the sniper...so I am just opining that maybe they MIGHT CONSIDER this "POSSIBILITY" .

1) So how did the pseudo-sniper get in the woods to nail it to a tree?

2) How do we know that the LE's haven't considered it a possibility that it was phony? Perhaps there is information that we don't know in the communication linking it to other communications. And please note - Chief Moose has NEVER said that he is attempting to communicate with the Sniper, just the person that communicated with the LE.

It's high time we stopped worrying about the elephant in the neighbor's back yard, and got the elephant in our house out!

IMHO this is exactly what the sniper is demanding. Have you wondered why now on these attacks? What has been happening now? We are going to war against Iraq and demanding that Saddam disarm.

Saddam does not want us to take away his weapons of mass destruction, neither does Al Qaeda because they have plans for them.

So why keep it secret? Let's say, for example, that this loon is demanding 3 and a half million bucks. And they release that info. If this guy's a domestic and he's been bragging to his buddies that he's about to come into enough money to buy some nice place that costs about that much...Stranger things have happened. Heck, the Unibomber's own brother recognized his own's sib's particular brand of looneyness.

Well, the threat was against children but he picked an adult for the next target??

AND he's back near his point of beginning??

AND he's composing 3 page letters

AND he's watching all the media reports

AND he's reconning all these sites

AND he's running around getting numbers from phone booths

AND he's eating cooking, eating, sleeping, walking, stealthing, driving

AND he's got an unusual run of luck...that his buddies are making possible.

I don't disagree with you about protecting our kids. And you bet, I would stand up and do anything to protect mine, and yours. My point is, did you really need to hear Moose read a note from the shooter saying your kids weren't safe? Was that really necessary. Was anyone so naive to believe that they were safe? Of course not. My point was that by reading that, the LEAs have further played into this guys hands. They have given him more power. Does anyone think he needs more power? Surely not. Quite playing this guys game. Quite letting him dictate the tone. Get some semblence of control back. They have forfeited all control in this game. If they don't get it back, we are going to loose.

Is there a reason why you react to my view about Linda Franklin's murder with such sarcasm? Why are you so sensitive about the issue? Let's say I'm wrong -- I admit I only suspect she was targeted. I do not have conclusive evidence. But if I'm wrong, what harm have I done? These threads are full of speculations that turn out to be false. The beauty of Free Republic is that people speculate freely. And I assure you I'm expressing my honest opinion, not lying for some strange reason.

It is just my strong feeling that his letter, is not from the sniper...that's all.

I believe the sniper(s) is/are AQ terrorists, and the letter writer is a loser opportunists who is inadvertantly helping the terrorists accomplish their goals.
