they could cash the check for him... I don't think even Saudi Arabia or Pakistan would be foolish enough to think they could get away with that! I think there's got to be something more than money involved, because at this point, the U.S. gov't could certainly put enough pressure on any country or banking system that he thought he might use.
Maybe it's money AND the release and safe passage of somebody in particular?

It was almost pitch black when the shooting occurred - hadn't really thought about night siting capabilities but sounds right. If this guy was a bus driver, would he be sitting in his bus all lit up?

Excuse me, that should read "passenger on THE bus."

You make good points about terrorism and $$/blackmail links. It's a distinct possibility.

Bus stops are normally lit aren't they? And wouldn't there be a light inside the bus for passengers entering/exiting? That's all that he would need.
To: Peach
the lighted background of the bus stop, and the HD parking lot may have provided the light for the killer to sight in,
therefore not requiring night vision technology.

It was the bus driver who was shot?

wasn't there some kind of connection to Oregon?? This group is al Fuqra, a radical Muslim group made up mostly of Black Muslim converts. Unfortunately, they have connections all over the country.

The guy may have low vision optics that are available anywhere.

I doubt that he goes to the freeways. He's a small roads guy. If you want to get anywhere quickly around here (DC area) you don't take a highway. You cut through neighborhoods.

Reported by itsinthebag on another thread: My mother just called and said local news report says victim is an african american male, the bus driver. He's back to meeting his diversity quota. I wouldn't want to be a school bus driver this morning. It's about time for them to take the kids to high school here.

Saw your correction - bus passenger Saw the re-correction too... which is it, do we know?

They don't have confirmation it was the bus driver. They're using words like "it appears to be" the bus driver. But it makes sense. The bus would be lit, it stops in the same place, and if he was in the cemetery, it'd be a clear shot once the bus door is open.
I'm praying for the victim.

Affirmative: bus driver, black male, age 35-50 (estimated), shot in right side. One passenger on bus, a woman. Eyewitness reported saw bus driver, not moving, taken away in ambulance.

MSNBC says cops have taken dogs into the woods.
