I'm afraid all this emphasis on the just-in-time manufacturing and business concepts hasn't helped our younger generation understand the need to prepare for future emergencies.

Oh, my gosh, Jimmy Carter.
Please don't anyone flame be but I was very young and very stupid and a Democrat. I voted for him (as I cower saying, don't hit me) TWICE.
I was 18 the first time and my college roommate talked me into it! Really, it wasn't my fault. I lived in the same room with her. It was Stockholm Syndrome.
However I redeemed myself, became a Reagan Republican and have voted that way since.
There is hope for young, dumb democrats.

Does anyone have a link so I can watch it live on the net? I can't seem to get NBC4 out of DC anymore.

The Question is: When Will They Tell The People The Unbearable Truth? I expect when they're ready to tell us, it won't be coming from Moose. How much longer can they allow this to continue without telling the public something?

This is what I don't get. If this guy is some domestic wacko, surely releasing the letter and note/s might go a long way toward finding the guy. They released the anthrax letters, the Unibomber's screed, why hold back on this? Good question, I don't get it either. I think you are right in suggesting that if the LEOs thought this guy is some DOMESTIC wacko more information would be made public. The media has reported (if true) that the letters left behind by the Killer are lengthy. If so, the LEOs certainly would have a good working profile of the killer. That they refuse to forward any part of this evidence to the public may be an indication that this Killer is part of something bigger.
To: mhking
Of course it is. It was a personel message to Moose and the task force for screwing up the message deal.

We don't live in the area, but we quit Halloween years ago--under normal circumstances, putting kids out on the streets after dark to take candy from who-knows-who is not what we consider a "healthy" practice. I know many kids look forward to it, but there are alternatives. So did we. Usually we buy candy and hide it all over the apartment. Then we turn the kids loose with buckets to go find the candy.

To show that they are 'doing something'. Just heard Mark Fuhrman on Sean Hannity and he was ripping Moose, et.al. a new one. Said they should let DETECTIVES run this case and get the sheriffs, deputies, etc., the hell out of the way!
To: rintense
Has anyone considered Halloween? It's next week, and if this guy is still around, there will be some pretty bummed out kids. I wouldn't worry .. many moms are pretty clever and I'm sure many will have some kind of party for the kids to make up for not going out on Holloween night

who is that official answering questions with moose? Listening to the radio while jogging at lunchtime, I heard Gary Bald answer some questions. Gay Bald is the head of the FBI's sniper investigation. I suspect Linda Franklin, the FBI intelligence analyst killed at the Home Depot, worked for him.

There is hope for young, dumb DemocratsHey, I resemble that remark!
(well, in all honesty, maybe not the young part quite so much anymore...)

Don't know about video but I imagine WTOP Radio Washington will cover it live.

Don't we have enough money to buy up all the effective mercenaries on the market? We used it all to buy off the "moderate" muslim countries so we could fight our "war" on terrorism :)

If this murderer is an Al-Queda operative he would have no need to have a job. All of the 9/11 terrorists were un-employed, being a murderer was their job. I believe that if law enforcement felt that they were dealing with another home-grown white/male terrorist, we would already have a composite splashed across the country by now. I also think that more information from the notes/clues would have been released by now. The tense and terse manner of the daily news conferences makes this situation feel much bigger than a home-grown threat, IMHO.
I have attached a link to a site that I have kept as a link regarding Al-Queda and a manual found in England. The following is an outline of the information contained in the link.
The manual, "Military Studies in the Jihad Against the Tyrants," was discovered by authorities in May 2000 in the Manchester, England home of a bin Laden follower. An English translation of the 180-page Arabic document was introduced into evidence during the recent embassy bombing trial in New York federal court. The manual offers jihad members instruction on an array of terrorist techniques, including:
Page 1: "The dialogue of bullets."
Page 2: "Blasting and destroying."
Pages 3-4: Forged documents.
Page 5: Security measures in public transportation.
Page 6: Definition of Special Operations.
Pages 7-8: "Guidelines for Beating and Killing Hostages."

This document is an interesting read, even if my hypothosis turns-out to be wrong.

Maybe Jimmy will negotiate a truce with the sniper. Perhaps grant him an annual kill quota and the Republican districts of Georgia in excange for a smile and a promise.
By the way, doesn't the N Korean leader resemble Mini-Me?
To: LisaFab
Going to Hannity's book signing Thursday in Scottsdale!
To: LisaFab
Mark Fuhrman is not all that. He is not impotent as he thinks he is.
To: valleygal
"There is hope for young, dumb democrats." Yep - You turned out just fine! :)
To: All
Sorry about the typo. That should of course be "Gary Bald," not "Gay Bald".
To: TexKat
Mark Fuhrman is not all that. He is not impotent as he thinks he is. then he doesn't need counseling from Bob Dole?
