I think this guy is unemployed, and recently unemployed. Cops should run down recent layoffs in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. I would also check on schools and colleges in the area. Students and teachers often have a lot of time on their hands.

In other words at this point that they can do no more at this time. They can intern and deport. Even if this is a Jackal mercenary-for-hire, that would deprive him of his support base.

His nomination wouldn't even get out the Judiciary committee. No vote, no nothing. If the Republicans don't take the Senate next month, it's time for recess appointments to the bench.

This is what I don't get. If this guy is some domestic wacko, surely releasing the letter and note/s might go a long way toward finding the guy. They released the anthrax letters, the Unibomber's screed, why hold back on this?

So let's cut Moose some slack for his mispronunciations.

Hi everybody! Do you guys know who called 911 this morning when the bus driver was shot? I think the reports have been that the bus was empty.

Did it ever occur that he is not leaving the scene in a van but may be using other means such a storm sewer? A while back I read that Homeland Security viewed this as a real threat and that they have taken steps to secure access to manhole openings and the sewer system since right after 9/11, particularly in the DC/VA/MD area. You can read about it on their web site. They want to protect against bombs or chemicals being placed underground.

Probably the driver of the bus behind him

I know people who say real-a-tor instead of real-tor. Pet peeve.

I am back to terrorism, and urge people o stock up on basic supplies in case we are confined to our homes.Confined to our homes?
Look, we have undertaken a "War on Terror." We had damned well better be prepared to do battle with terrorists.
If we are being attacked by random snipers, bombers, etc., we can never accept being "confined" to our homes. Rather, we should undertake the responsibility to hunt down terrorists and secure our communities. If we meekly accept being "confined to our homes" we will have lost any semblance of the American spirit.

I made a post about Carnahan today..got 32 messages...OH WELL,
ELECTION 2002..what the heck is that?
Oh, good grief, and I thought I was going to be able to go back to normal, watching "Trading Spaces" in the afternoon when this shooter is caught. I forgot about the elections!

The school boards and police initially said school was being canceled because of the complaints of lots of parents. But I think most everybody understood the real reason. Just about everybody on this board did. What's the point of keeping secret what everybody knows?
To: kcat
Don't know who called, but heard there was a lone woman sitting in the bus that the officers were interviewing/consoling.

Does anyone know what the time lapse is between LE and EMT's arriving on the scene and how soon they are able to transport the victim to the hospital? I would be concerned that victims are not being transported until forensic teams appear on the scene to process the victim and immediate area--and this would be sad. I would hate to think that the victim loses precious time because forensics need to take photo's etc before anything or anyone is moved. It may be necessary--but I wouldn't want to be the one to have to tell the family that.

Honeymooning with the Clarence Thomas hearings...My husband would NEVER have gone for that! LOL

The (initial) reports I saw and heard said there was a second driver on the bus. Has that turned out to be wrong?
A few minutes ago I heard a girl interviewed who was late for the bus because she had forgotten something at home. When she got to the bus, she found that the driver had been shot.

I think this guy is unemployed, and recently unemployed. Cops should run down recent layoffs in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Agree. I think that possibly losing his job may have been what set him off. He started off thinking about suicide, decided to turn that outward and go out in a blaze of glory. But then he saw the effect he had, and changed his MO, and here we are.
To: aeronca
I heard they took several minutes to get to the bus driver after they arrived on scene because they were afraid of further shots and had to secure the area.

Not good. I feel we are in some real trouble here.
You are not alone.
