LOL. Well, as a Southerner I can tell you I do not dismiss someone's intelligence or ability simply because they overlook a few little consonants when speaking.
Chief Moose made the mistake of pre 9-11 "think and speak" in a post 9-11 America. His touchy-feely, sensitive approach is far too PC for Americans who now understand the worst can happen here. We have rallied behind the President's strength and determination to right the wrongs inflicted on us and to rid the world of evil doers. IMHO Chief Moose has been thrust into an impossible situation. He may have done the best he could under the circumstances but that isn't the public's impression. I believe that with a personable, professional press person some of the uncertainty and disappointment we have in the investigation and for Chief Moose in particular could have been avoided.

I find it interesting that this Killer can find so many ideal sniper nests with good escape routes when the MD/VA metro area has been crawling with LEOs for more than 2 weeks. I doubt this guy would want to expose himself walking around on recon missions in back lots and wooded areas a day or 2 before he kills. It seems to me that this Killer had scoped out all these areas BEFORE he went on his rampage.
Also, I don't know why there haven't been cameras set up on ALL ROADS in the Region. The Killer has to go somewhere and if video can place certain cars at certain places on a time line that would be valuable information.
I think the killer is on foot... driving there earlier, then walking to where he shoots from. Then walking back to where his car is. You can get miles in an hour.

.WHY DONT YOU TELL HIM THE PLAN NOW...
Thats what the media and some of the talking heads have done since day one. The day they announced the plane that would be flying over the area, I almost fell off my seat. They don't know when to quit and then gets upset when one does not want to confide in them. And some of the questions they ask, just blows me away. Yesterday Nachman had this blowhard religion reporter from the Washington Post (Hamil somebody)on his show. Even though this guy was a releion reporter he was huffing and puffing about Chief Moose just using the media as a conduit. He appeared like a big crying Baby Huey. The only thing I could say was, Look at you, you big dumb sucka.

think deep concern and grief sometimes turns into anger. I do believe that is what happened to me today. Forgive me for being too hard on someone who has a difficult job and forgive me for thinking and (worse) saying he is doing it poorly, IMO. Many of us here feel similarly - and direct our anger at LE. But it's a double-edged blade. On the one hand, we're frustrated (I refuse to say it the way HE does) at the lack of information we're getting that might enable us to protect ourselves and those we love. But on the other hand, everything he says seems to wind up becoming a part of the shooter's MO. So we waver between wanting to know everything and wishing that Moose would just shut up altogether until this is resolved. The anger, though, is quite present. I think it's general anger, though, at the feeling of being utterly unable to control something that, like it or not, is affecting our daily lives - and anger flourishes best when it has a specific target. Moose is an easy one.

Not foolish at all, imo. If that had been me, I would have had to change my underwear too!

OMG, Wings just scared the stew out of me. I don't know how long he has been sitting over there, but I turned around and he was there, dressed as a BIG chicken. OMG, when he got up there was this HUGE egg in his chair. I am laughing so hard I'm going to hurt myself. The man is an idiot. Fun, but an idiot.

Shoot many before deciding on one.
My brother (he's a probation officer and deputy) says the same thing.
Your brother is wise. Even within one caliber, say .38 Special, there's a wide variety of models. Once one throws the cartridge issue into it... It's exponential.
Whatever you settle upon, there is nothing more important than practice.

Doesn't Moose sound like "the ladies man" from saturday night live??? At the risk of exposing myself as an old foggie, I never watch SNL :)

MSNBC is desperately trying to catch up in the ratings war, and will say/do anything to accomplish it

It could be the 'sniper(s)' calling the shots (sorry) about Chief Moose. He may be the designated spokesman by the sniper(s) demand.

Thank you for putting it so well. I have to go and deal with some fools who've camped out in my little study area. I do believe I am getting a Halloween preview. :)See you in a bit, and thanks again.:)

I agree with you about Chief Moose being out of touch with the change in our situation, Darlin, but my feelings about the mess we are in has changed a lot over the last couple of days.
I much prefer Captain Deming (I think that is her name), as she is a better public speaker, in my opinion. If Chief Moose is the guy we have to hear, though, we might consider just putting up with him for the time being, and doing our best to tolerate his limitations.
One of the problems we face as a nation is the following. Law Enforcement is not able to prevent such attacks. All they really do is arrest and gather evidence for prosecution. Our Military would be a better choice for protection, but the Posse Comitatus act prevents their deployment is a situation like this.
If the sniping intensifies, or spreads to other metropolitan locations, then we may see the Guard called out, and some form of martial law established, but it will be a real mess for the country if this happens. I hate to think of all the ramifications should that be neccessary.
So, let us try to keep our heads cool, and hope we do not end up living like the Israelis... I cannot imagine it.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he hides in the truck of his car
I know in my car .. the back seat can fold down to gain access from the inside of the car

I doubt this guy would want to expose himself walking around on recon missions in back lots and wooded areas a day or 2 before he kills. It seems to me that this Killer had scoped out all these areas BEFORE he went on his rampage. Recon still wouldn't be hard, even now that everyone is thoroughly spooked and LE is showing itself as more of a presence than before. I see tons of joggers/bikers/walkers every morning and afternoon. Wooded areas abound. It wouldn't be difficult at all for the guy to blend in with other people going about their daily business as he's scouting locations. If the guy acts even remotely collected as he scouts, he won't be noticed among the many other people walking, running, stopping to look around, even in areas that seem to be the type of place he favors shooting from. This is a milling, busy area, even off main highways. Blending would not be one bit hard if the guy has just a smidgen of wits about him. And he seems to have very much of his wits about him, if not all his sanity.
