I am kind of blowing a gasket listening to Moose. The parents are not the "proper" people to inform of threats? I understand maybe he's trying to avoid setting the sniper off by repeating the threat in the media...yet at the same time it's bothering me they would inform the districts and trust them to make decisions, and feel the parents are not on a "need to know" basis. If I were a parent on the East Coast I would be bothered not to have the facts on which to base my decisions.

No, I have believed that all along. Not necessarily that I believe it is AQ or some such... We are in deep Doo Doo because we don't know. Uncertainity is the problem. We would be better off, if we knew for certain that it was AQ. We would at least know who to target. Who to suspect. Who to surveille. When we don't know, we cannot develop a plan. Just not enough manpower to cover everything completely. We are only able to shotgun this thing. Effective over a short range. But when our opponent is using high powered rifles, and we are using shotguns. Well, we will never get him until we know who, what and where he is and we can get close enough to get within the effective range of our shotgun. (metaphorical use of shotgun/rifle there. This disclaimer offered so as not to confuse)

I think that they have absolutley no clue what is going on. They have no suspects, they have no motive, they have no idea what is going to happen next. They blew some type of communication with the shooter yesterday, and today's shooting is just the start over point.

Your sis lives in Mont Co? I have lived in Silver Spring twice(as a child and over a year ago) I feel sad that I might have been on that driver's bus and he has been murdered. That my family that lives in DC and MD and VA are at risk from this evil makes me angry.

Unfortunately, I feel the time is creeping up where most of us in populous areas will be "at risk."

I'm trying to think of a time in which the entire public was put on alert like that... IMHO I can think of 9/11/02. I know when a predator/attempted abduction occurs...flyers are sent home with parents. Amber alerts....

But this...don't know what the benefit is to NOT confirm the threat to parents.
