I'm trying to think of a time in which the entire public was put on alert like that... IMHO I can think of 9/11/02. I know when a predator/attempted abduction occurs...flyers are sent home with parents. Amber alerts....
But this...don't know what the benefit is to NOT confirm the threat to parents.

I think the point is that it is NOT a specific threat, i.e. "I am going to shoot more children" or "See you at school." More likely it is something that could POSSIBLY be viewed as a threat to children, i.e. a note left in a trick or treat bag. It also could have been a threat to the Richmond area schools ant not the DC area schools. There are many reasons why there would be no elaboration about this at a public news conference. I trust law enforcement and local school officials here more than I trust idiot reporters that just want to alarm people.

They should tell us everything and tell it now. Sniper be damned, they are still killing people. Hasn't done any good keeping secrets from us and playing by his cards.
Otherwise we need to begin exercising our freedoms as moose suggests in earnest. Can we start carrying our rifles around now? Will people look at me strange if I got one slung over my shoulder while I pump gas, go to the grocery store, drop my kid off at school and make my way into work?
