I thought causing terror is the Al Qaeda standard MO? Stop getting bogged down by how the terror is being caused and remember that terror is being caused. That seems to fit the MO to me.

I am glad you have the inside scoop on the techniques that Al Qaeda uses. Perhaps you can get a position with the CIA?

The French Sniper is said to be of Yugoslavian orgin...could be a Muslim...
To: motexva
What is their profile? How do we know this guy isn't a PAID assassin from Al Q, or any other terrorist group? I refuse to call this creep a "sniper" that gives the guy too much credit and fancy titles in the news. He's a murdering assassin.
To: FL_engineer
This is the most logical connection yet to be seen. Only question is...who is shooting now? Pakis?

...and he could be an orthodox Jew. I'm not jumping to any conclusions, as I have heard lots of good, plausible theories.

I am just waiting now for California or New Jersey to adopt an "Anti-Sniper Assault Weapon Act." All rifles with scopes will be banned as they are now sniper weapons. Nobody needs to own a weapon that can put bullets accurately into a "child" at 300 yards. This law will save our children. (I state all the above while shaking my head in disgust.) One more reason for me to bury a safe in the backyard and claim all my weapons were stolen.

This terrorist thing is like a big guy, and his neighbor, a little guy. They pissed each other off one day. The big guy can kill the little guy with just one hit, but the little guy never come out to harass the big guy face to face. The little guy waits until his neighbor is sleeping and goes and poisons his dog. He throws some roofing nails on his driveway and cause him to have a flat, he pours some weed and feed on his bushes to kill his plants,...you get the picture! Now, you cannot coexist! You can either kiss and make up, which is impossible, or kill / evict that damn neighbor. That is what we failed to do. It has been more than a year since 9/11, and almost ten years since we started to have Moslem terrorist in the US; WHAT DID WE DO? Nothing so far! All the illegal / the legal Moslems are roaming our streets causing havoc. Our government and our ACLU are afraid of saying that our enemy is Islamic terrorist, and we should shut our doors to Moslems until we can sort this mess out!

The guy wants money, I wonder what these guy's [sic] profile is now?
Don't overlook your assumption: the guy calling wanting money is the sniper. Remember that the only person in prison in the Tylenol tampering case is someone who had nothing to do with the poisonings except using their occasion as a means to extort money.

The dog thing is great, but I believe for them to track something, they need to smell it first (to know what to look, or in this case smell for). So if you had part of the shooters shirt, or a hat he left behind, then you could do it. If not, your taking a dog out there, and telling him to track the shooter. The ground is covered in scent, of a thousand different things/people. The dog won't know the difference between the shooter, and some lady that just walked by. You gotta give the dog the one you want him to track. We need a sample......

Incidentally, the only other prominent sniper/shooter attack in this country was Whitman in Austin Texas over 30 years ago . . . not really similar to this case in that he clearly wanted to die, however, for years there have been rumors here that he was motivated by some sort desire to make a statement about the Vietnam war. I don't believe his motive has ever been determined. You should do a little research, Whitman had a brain tumor that affected his thinking.

He could be and it's a good idea not to jump to conclusions.

As a rule, especially in the last ten years, any act of political violence in the US is more likely to be committed by a leftist
_____
except the biggest one of all - OKC. Timid McVeigh, grand coward for the ages, certainly was no leftist.

You should do a little research, Whitman had a brain tumor that affected his thinking. That was the official story and you fell for it.

Perfect opportunity to out-fox the sniper. Police should announce that they have just delivered the $5 million requested by the sniper at the specified drop off point. Watch the actual sniper run to the nearest phone to tell the cops that they were wrong since it wasn't him/her. In other words, law enforcement needs to do less chasing and more luring......
