I would love to see videos of all the Senators that blocked funding of the Homeland security legislation, fueling their own vehicles in Maryland tonight.

That bull looks like it has a beak!

If anything at the shooting site has an odor strong enough to produce a distinctive track, it would be gunpowder. Hmm.

Me too!

It's way past time to turn this problem over to the feds. They can start with raids on the 6 known terrorist cells around DC.

The Bush connection is too vague to make any kind of political point at this time. And if the sniper is raging against Bush, does he think this is going to do anything but give Bush the benefit of the public indignation?

"give Bush the benefit of the public indignation?"

Didn't stop 9/11 as I recall.

If the sniper is a lone nut white guy, I'll change my screen name to 'too dumb to see the overwhelming evidence to the contrary' ...

Hang onto your screen name. Could be a lone white guy, but not an NRA type...

HomeDepot= Marcus family
Michaels & Ponderosa = Wyle Family
Four Oil Companies = Obvious
Shopper's Food Warehouse = SuperValu = Michael W. Wright
All W. Bush Supporters to the tune of millions$$$.

This list supports my theory. I think we have a Unisniper, a WTO protester who hates those who fill their gas tanks, remodel homes using wood, eat steak (Ponderosa), or buy that craft stuff, all of which is made in China. Recently, there was a WTO protest in D.C. where ecofreaks and capitalism haters gathered from all over the world to demonstrate in the streets. A tarot deck would not be out of character for this group. Perhaps one or more of the demonstrators decided to stick around the D.C, area and put the Unibomber's manifesto into action. Thus, Unisniper.

If you recall the Unibomber Manifesto, readily available online, the coming revolution would not be political but would require acts by individuals against the prevailing economic culture. That's exactly what the Unisniper is doing and could signal change in tactics for many world trade haters.

Just my theory, but I think it holds up.

I am just waiting now for California or New Jersey to adopt an "Anti-Sniper Assault Weapon Act." All rifles with scopes will be banned as they are now sniper weapons. Nobody needs to own a weapon that can put bullets accurately into a "child" at 300 yards. This law will save our children.

(I state all the above while shaking my head in disgust.)

While this killer is certainly cunning and intelligent, I don't think there's any reason to think he's part of any kind of larger conspiracy. It is one person, possibly two, in which case I suspect they are romantically involved. But most of the shots this guy has taken you could make with a .22 LR, with little or no formal training.

The information today about the missing "french" soldier is very interesting, however. At one point they were saying he was of Yugoslavian origin. If so, take your pick of motivation - Serbian revenge, Moslem rage, French ecoterrorist.

In any event, there's no reason to assume it's bin Laden related. If it's foreign terrorism, there are any number of possible factions that could be involved, since President Billy made us so many enemies during his tenure. Also, he seems to be acting more like a traditional serial killer now, taunting police, etc.

If it was an islamofacist, he'd take his sniper rifle to Disneyland or something and see how many tourists he could take out before the cops plug him. This type of crime doesn't fit the standard al Quada MO.

Sniper called, used voice-disguising device

Before anyone speculates that a "voice-disguising device" implies a well-funded shooter with access to CIA/KBG-level spy tools, I'd like to point out that I learned enough in college (in signal-processing class) to be able to build several types of voice-tweakers from stuff you can buy at Radio Shack.

Doubtless there are various high school science project books which give detailed plans for them as well, someone who wanted such a device wouldn't even need a college-level education in order to build one, as long as he didn't care about not understanding *how* it worked, and just wanted to know enough to assemble one and use it.

Police Chief Charles Moose has a very big job and I am sure he feels the pressure. His will to solve this must be very strong. He finds himself in a situation that calls on him to be his best.

Not a bad for all FReepers to say a prayer of support for this man. FReep for Chief Moose.

I've been thinking this almost since this started. You are the only other person to fit this together I have encountered on this site. Let me throw this into the mix -

1) A journalist friend of mine talked to witnesses at the school shooting who say the kid was wearing sportswear with a prominent Nike swoosh on it when he was shot.

2) Most serial killers begin with some sort of initiating event, a final straw that snaps them. At the riots you mention in DC, most of the protestors were rounded up before they could protest. I believe the shooter may be one of these protestors, who was arrested before he could protest, and decided to run amok on his release.

3) As a rule, especially in the last ten years, any act of political violence in the US is more likely to be committed by a leftist. From the ecovandalism incidents that occur virtually every day to the anarchist/antiglobal violence to the nut that tried to make a smiley face with pipe bombs last summer, leftists in the USA now have an almost complete monopoly on political violence. "Right wing" groups don't even show up any more.

The 9/11 attacks were not followed by Islamonuts taking credit for them and blaming Bush.

Man I'm glad you cleared that up for me. I'll sleep much better now.

Goodnight!

All good points that support Unisniper theory. I believe we're onto something! The ecofascists are mutating.

More likely story: All of these are public places within driving distance of the shooter's home/base-of-operations where people are easy targets from long distances.
