I hate sad endings. How about this? Crusher gets shot and a mom who kept her kids out of school today is a witness. She tells the kids to get down and tosses them a cell phone and follows the sniper. Kids call 911 and sniper apprehended and kills himself. Crusher gets a "brave man here" on his headstone. Mom and kids honored for bravery too and get 500000 dollars. Everyone happy.

I think they're saying they should be used for target practice- for the "higher principles at stake."

If they have a logical reason for closing the schools as opposed to frightened people calling then that's reasonable.

Its reasonable period, based on how so many local schools are situated. (Campus style schools, with wooded areas, just off the interstate, etc) The schools have discretionary days built into the calendar, missing a day is no big whoop...

Yes, it's a personal choice. But, the aggregate of our personal choices will determine whether or not the terrorists win.

What terrorists? We have a sniper, but I haven't read any connection to terrorism in general. One kook does not a national war make. Why not let the LEAs hunt this kook down? Isn't that their job?
If there's a rapist in the area, should women be encouraged to walk through dark allies - so the rapist doesn't "win?"
