This just occurred to me. If the vehicle doesn't have the stickers, then the previous owner wasn't in Virginia. When a used car is sold, the stickers are left on it.

Ashland is far enough from any other state that there would be no reason to go to, say, Maryland to buy a car. These guys aren't local.

It's a bit early to say will recover, but he's made it so far since the shooting. There are two other survivors, so you are correct that this guy is the third. I have read that the 13 y.o. is still in hospital, and I don't know whether the other survivor is at home yet.

the cop on Fox News just said it takes 30 minutes to an hour to identify a call coming from a public phone booth ... well, the cops i work with keep every public phone booth number in their area of operations posted prominently in their squad rooms for everyone to see and use, and it's a good source of information. Often a squad car can be at the booth to observe who is calling before the caller hangs up.

One of the FOX News commentators just made the statement that sometimes people are "arrested" for their own protection. Maybe these guys are just witnesses/informants in the case.

Why don't you prove what a man you are and stop denigrating people who aren't as brave as you are?

Where did he "denigrate" anyone? He pointed out the fact that most people in the face of hostility in this country, would just roll over and play dead/hide/and depend on the Great Nanny to protect themselves. Can you prove that this is NOT so today? Or do you have a problem that he won't TOLERATE it?

As far as I see it...he's right on, and its sad...even the most basic human instinct we have (protecting ourselves) has been watered down to a point that people actually believe the Nanny will protect us.

This is not about bravery or "manlyness"...its about being human.

I think the hispanic fellow loitering in a white van with a ladder rack in a deserted school parking lot stood out like a sore thumb.

I think the last-minute decision to close schools last night was a good one.

The mom who made the 911 call was dropping off her kid at a nearby school, and she noticed the van and men acting suspiciously. They didn't belong there, that might have been the extent of the "activity", but maybe it was more than that.

At any rate, the van was then surveilled by police. And when the phone call was in progress, they pounced...

I heard on CNN that when the 'tip' came into the tip line last night re: the message being left in the woods behind the Ponderosa, the call was traced to a pay phone in that area. NOT the exact payphone of this morning. ATF and local LEO had multiple pay phones in that vicinity staked out because they were expecting a call to be made to LEO this morning. LEO figured the call would come from that same vicinity. Shortly after the woman called in from the school parking lot, the van pulled into the lot/pay phone that was already staked out. Voila.........arrest was made.

This all from CNN understand.........so who knows if the information is correct.

I agree. I'm kind of pissed at Rush right now for his "Bullwinkle J. Moose" comments. The guy has a job to do and I think that we should back off and let him do it.

There is no difference between making jokes about 1) Moose for not catching the sniper yet and 2) Bush for not catching Bin Laden.

Mr. Moose needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. They know much more than we do and THEY CAN'T TELL US EVERYTHING THEY KNOW.
