Also wanted to ask Freepers - how many shootings have there been where there was a "wood line" nearby or other equally likely hiding place for the shooters?

Agree, especially with the white van as decoy theory. Was glad to see they were going to search every car last night, but it obviously didn't result in anything.

We figure this shooter is sliding back into his Holiday Inn Express or simliar close motel to watch the chaos.

NOPE...he is a college student...his parents live in VA, southern parts hell maybe in NC...he makes routine trips to see them...he has a schedule to keep and was heading back to DC - Wheaton MD area...he hadn't been able to shoot at anyone since Tuesday...he has planned his next hits for the next souple of days...he knew IF HE WERE to shoot on Sunday night off of 95 would have slowed down his arrival back at the dorm on Sunday evening and cut into his Monday classes...so he shot Saturday night left him a day of "catch up" to get back to campus looking like an average student.

I think the tip will come from his parents, when they put two and two together.

OHHH and do you think MOOSE'S TAUNT about NOT releasing info on the rental van/bullet...until Monday WHEN HE KNEW the BRASS found in the VAN was too old and tto BIG...he KNEW the momet he SAW the BRASS in the VAN it was NOT EVIDENCE...his "TAUNTING THE SHOOTER" by stating waiting for ballistics...blah blah blah...no news conference on Sunday...the shooter never shoots on weekends...blah blah blah...

SHIT that just torqued the KILLERS jaw and SET him off...made him leave a NIGHT early from VA...made him...YES IN THE KILLERS MIND...Moose's remarks MADE him go OUT and just PROVE to MOOSE he is alive and well and NOT AFRAID! This game being played is being played well in the media...it has gotten personal it is realy between MOose and the killer...and you all should WATCH Moose's press conferences...it is what he says...it is HOW he delivers it to the killer.

We are down to the fine art of TAUNTING...sit back and watch it...

I'm with you. I'll pitch my two cents into the pool of "nobody knows nothing" and guess that the shooting locations are chosen more for having a safe hidey-hole within a few minutes walk-then-drive. We could have a cell of a dozen or more, most just offering "sanctuary" from Infidel Law Enforcement (ILE) for the shooter(s) until it's time to set up the next one-bullet jihad.

As you can tell from the above half-baked theory, I believe the Religion of Peace is behind all this.

I've been thinking about that bullet, Peach.

I'd bet there's a good chance they have ID'd it. All the bullets have been fragmenting. Just because they couldn't get all the fragments, or even the largest fragment, doesn't mean they weren't able to get any fragment large enough to ID.

OTOH, if this is another cell, they could be using different ammunition--as well as a different gun.

The other thing that strikes me about this is that the victim was not stationary. He and his wife were walking to the car. He was moving--though he was probably walking right into the shooter.

He isn't the dummy you believe him to be...the FBI is telling him what to say...take a look at the maps I'll be posting in a bit...been working on them a weekend...should be a few minutes (hour) longer...

Take a chill pill. Good though I think your work is, (actually I think it's outstanding) - isn't a lot of it guess work? Have we actually ever heard the police admit the direction of the shots? I'd thought a lot of the graphics were guesswork on the direction of the shots and not ACTUAL evidence of the shots.

We don't really know as far as I can see but it is "good cover" because it is "just there" in our minds. We simply don't observe what is around us normally. We observe things "out of the norm".

A "woodline" is the "edge of woods", a "treeline" is a row of trees commonly in Greespace areas. Most people use them interchangeably but if you looked at an Engineers or Architects site plan of each of these sites, I'd guess you would find one of the two "lines" available at each site and the difference in terms would be readily noticeable.

Good point about victim not being stationary. It sounds like with the exception of possibly the 13-year old, everyone else was stationary. I' almost ready for a future shooting to be outside the profile and a slow dawning that we have other sleeper cells moving into action.

of course that's a possibility, but motels/hotels leave paper trails and have nosey employees, even if one uses bogus id.
i gotta think that's a chance this guy(s) aren't prepared to take, unless it's a co-religionist running the joint.

from what i heard about the road closures last night, our boy would still have had ample time to get back to dc metro,
assuming he was in most anything besides a 'van'.

Me, too and from day one....The shooter is on foot and walking out as he sees fit and calls in for a pickup...maybe a cell phone but more likely two ways as they're untraceable as far as I know.
