We don't really know as far as I can see but it is "good cover" because it is "just there" in our minds. We simply don't observe what is around us normally. We observe things "out of the norm".
A "woodline" is the "edge of woods", a "treeline" is a row of trees commonly in Greespace areas. Most people use them interchangeably but if you looked at an Engineers or Architects site plan of each of these sites, I'd guess you would find one of the two "lines" available at each site and the difference in terms would be readily noticeable.
