I'd like to know, too. West Virginia, real close to the Shenandoah (i butchered that spelling, sorry), Valley. I can't remember the name of the town. Maybe a "memory" thread would be good. Anyone else recall a crop duster airplane that went missing? It was a DEA plane and DEA Agent flying it, neither of them have been seen or heard from. These things have happened AFTER Sept. 11th.

Sounds good to me. There are so many little leads that come and go - unfortunately, at some point, they'll probably all make sense.
On the whole, the FBI (and whoever else is involved) seems to be making a pretty good effort to get these folks. Naturally, I suppose, we don't know about the ones that got away. But looking at it in some way that could provide an overview might be helpful.
For example, from those 2 stories, it now looks pretty apparent that something was in the works for DC.

I can't believe we are witnessing another tragedy! I guess he decided to break his "No shooting on weekends" tradition.
I'm not able to stay online..and won't until later. Am sending my prayers to all of you who live in and have friends in that effected areas.

Great....we need archives, there's just no way to remember all of these "isolated incidences."

Sure was, we had alot of threads discussing it. I think it happened late last year. That particular airplane was supposed to have landed in the Miami/Hollywood area. The Pilot had refuled in the Bahamas ( I think), plane and Pilot were fine, spent the night there, left the next day and then nothing. Not even a grease spot was found.

Shenandoah is exactly right !

YES, that's it. Remember, they said the Pilot was rock solid and would never disappear like that. He had years of service, older guy, very dependable, etc.

Then right after that, when all the warnings to small airplane Pilots were out, we had that attempted hijacking of the EMS rescue airplane and pilot, times two. One in Utah and one in Arizona, I believe. The ME types (yes they were called that, THEN), had tried to hide onboard these airplanes. Snuck up on the EMS pilot, a Lady, stuck a knife to her throat and demanded she fly him out of there. She ran off the runway, knocked he knife away, man ran off into the night, never has been found, that I know of.

It could be, it was a big deal and they never found any wreckage or anything. That "Ayres" name sounds familiar, as several FReepers knew the airplane type, and had posted photos, etc.

LOL, I got lucky. :)tomkat Kitty, do you think these Cops will ever catch the shooter/s?

lady, i think the chances of their being caught is directly proportional to the length of time this goes on.
even the best, in any endeavor, screw up somewhere, eventually.
the big question is: will LE be able to capitalize on the (inevitable) mistake ?

Millions of Americans -- tens of millions of Americans -- have been getting an intense, crash course in being a successful sniper there'll come a day, prolly in the not too distant future, when that fact will work to our collective advantage.
