I don't know if they'll catch the shooter, but what probably will save the victim is a rapid transport to the hospital within the golden hour. I'm praying for him.

Maybe that means as stable as one can be after being shot in the stomach.

Today was the day of the big C&E gunshow at the showplace on Mechanicsville Pike in Richmond, basically the biggest gunshow in Virginia. It's unlikely but possible that the sniper was down there loading up on ammo or some other supply necessity and simply saw an opportunity for a couple of shots on the way back. The show ended at 5:00 so that is unlikely, however, the gun grabbers will latch onto this if they are aware of the show. The place was more crowded than I have seen in a long time.

For what it is worth it is Giants 4-1. Remote control is smoking between Fox News, Fox sports and that other news channel.

According to Rita Cosby, no details about the race of the victim have been released.

I don't know why people are jumping on you and asking which state when you have Ashland, Va, North of Richmond in your title. Sheesh!

"Shot in the stomach from an unknown distance and an unknown direction." I have only heard that he was shot in the back.

I agree, I think its terrorist, too.
Y'all are doing me proud. I'm at a party, got lots of folks looking over my shoulder. I told them FReepers would have a collective report on a live thread going, complete with maps and opinions. FOFLOL.

Why do you suppose they move south in VA, instead of moving north in MD? Doesn't seem like sensible tactics to me.

The location of the shooting is far from a "Rough Area". I know. Why would the networks say this? I always thought of Ashland as a sleepy, safe town.

This is becoming very confusing. Hope the press isn't running with rumors.Imagine your self as a news reporter on television. You have to keep talking while waiting for details to come in. Your main job in this situation is to maintain the public's interest. HYPE! MYSTERY! FEAR! - 24/7.
This is terrorism and it is working quite well. The are acomplishing their goals and the media is aiding and abetting them - not purposely - they have done their home work and done it well.

He was probably sending a message that he can shoot anywhere no matter what. I would love to shoot this guy in each leg then each arm and then when he is crying in enough pain make the last shot right thru his cold blooded heart.

Earlier on this thread somebody familiar with the area said there is a Michael's nearby. According to the Michael's web site, their nearest store to Ashland is over six miles away.

I was transcribing from CNN verbatim. I'm in Florida, never been up there. That was their characterization of the area.
I happen to like Ponderosa.
