The location of the shooting is far from a "Rough Area".

I know. Why would the networks say this? I always thought of Ashland as a sleepy, safe town.

The "Rough Area" comment reminds me of the JAG show on Monday.

Ashland is about as pleasant, genteel and suburban as one might find anywhere.
Good dental work amongst the population, Starbucks, suburban sprawl.

The reporters who commented on the "Rough Area" have been watching TV. On JAG last Monday night they had everyone in "Southern Virginia" (Virginia Beach) talking like the Dukes of Hazard..(they have no accent there...it's a national melting pot)

They had Little Creek Amphib base in a wilderness of drawling sherrifs and winding roads. It is actually in a 30 mile radius of six cities totaling almost 2 million.

I think by "rough area" they mean anything not paved over or with something growning more than 2" high.
