I'd flee, too, if my argument was as weak as yours. BTW, good riddance, idiot.

Gosh, that "idiot" who posted a weak argument didn't get HER post pulled but you did.

Now what's a person suppose to make of that?

"In this case all gunowners of this specific caliber are being treated as criminals.

It's happening Tex, it's just not being reported in the press.

I was contacted by phone from someone claiming to be from the FBI about 2 weapons I own. Iw as asked if I still owned them and could I account for my where-abouts. I said I did still own them and and yes I could account for my where-abouts. I questioned him about how he obtained my info and that I thought Maryland didn't keep records like that. He said that he got the info from the original hard copy of the disclosure form I filled at the Gun dealer. I'm guessing he meant the 4473 that has the 7 questions on it that require a (YES) in order to walk out with the gun.

I didn't feel like I was treated like a criminal, but I have to question how he was able to get this info legally. The LEO on the phone did not say a thing about surrendering my gun for ballistic finger-printing, he just asked if I was willing to be interviewed if asked. I said no problem and he said thank You and hung up. An insurance adjuster I know was also contacted and was simularry questioned.

Are owners of white box vans being approached?

That's different. That is based on probable cause. In the case of gun records they are crossing the line.

It's as if they said the shooter was using a felt tip pen.

They are broaching a legal definition. In this case the gun based not on ballistics but rather on caliber.

I, too, hope the end is near for this nightmare.

Be well. Safe travel. Brightness all your days.

It's your choice.

This is the whole point. How you characterize the exercise of that choice is an entirely separate issue than whether the right exists or not.

You might classify it as being a jerk where somebody else will classify it as exercising their individual rights under the Constitution. Thats fine, characterizations don't bother me as long as the right is recognized and you have done that.

Pray for the victim of tonight's shooting, his family, LE officers, and for our country.

And for the capture of the killer.

I apologize if anyone's fragile egos were fractured in the process of dialoguing, but I didn't read in the FR rule book that there were sacred cows at FR, and I, frankly, haven't seen a shred of evidence to defend any "logical" banter by Howlin.

Innuendos must surely be un becoming of you pr? Are you old? Are you young? Are you wise? Can you really characterize with such a broad stroke?

PING for the disenfranchised.

Well I'd be polite but i don't like it.....it's all about databasing and eventual confiscation.

This road towards gun confiscation is going to come to bad ends one day....mark my words.

They got your info from a 4473. They are going back ten years.

Come on. That is a distinction without a difference. The evidence is much stronger for the type of gun than the type of van. There are not millions of these types of guns being carried daily but there are millions of white vans on the road every day.

Good police officials do not fault citizens who insist on recognition of Constitutional requirements and protections.

I doubt that they have much respect for jerks acting hinky and deliberately making the investigation more difficult and time consuming.

They went back further than that, I looked to see when I purchased the guns and one was in 1988 and the other 1991

The existence of the right isn't at issue.

I think every town and burg running along 95 should have good old boys, with walkie talkies, staking out the areas in their town where a sniper might think is a likely spot. Perhaps volunteers could sign up for shifts.

I'm guessing in a small town like Ashland, 95 only runs through a small section of it, therefore there may be less than a dozen places where a sniper would pick to take his shot. Citizens of these towns should look around for likely spots themselves and stake them out, they should especially look for other routes the sniper might take to avoid 95 and make his get away. Next time the bum shows up, he might get a welcoming committee.

In any event, citizens on the hunt would be within very close proximity to the next crime scene, close enough to run across the guy fleeing if he is using back roads.

I think the fragile ego is one that sneaks back in under a new name to avoid detection. BTW I wouldn't use terms that you do not know the meaning of such as...logic.

"but some people who post about "rights", on threads like this, are really concerned about a right that dosen't exist - their right to partake of illegal drugs. They're concerned that they might get caught transporting, buying, or selling, or in a roadblock"

I'm afraid this is so very true. Then they get all high and mighty about the constitution and their rights when they, themselves are abusing the rights of others by breaking the law. I am sure there are many all over this country upset about "their rights and their privacy" for this very reason.

The lesson in this? When you attempt to break the law, the dominoes start to fall - it is just a matter of which direction they fall.
